The approval was given at a meeting held at NEC Bhaban in the city with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Nasima Begum briefed reporters after the meeting.
As per a proposal placed by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, state-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will import 1.03 tonnes of refined petroleum fuel from six international suppliers at a total cost of Tk 5,753 crore.
Of this, some 60,000 tonnes of diesel (gas oil) will be procured from Petrochina, 30,000 tonnes from PITT of Thailand, 21,000 tonnes of diesel, 60,000 tonnes of Jet-A1 oil and 40,000 tonnes of octane (mogas) from BSP of Indonesia.
The BPC will import 330,000 tonnes of diesel from Unipac of China, 60,000 tonnes of diesel from the UAE and 120,000 tonnes of diesel from PTLCL of Malaysia.
The BPC will also buy 60,000 tonnes of diesel from Numaligar of India in 2020 through railways wagons at a cost of Tk 314.30 crore.
The Cabinet body approved the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry’s proposal to directly award a Tk 297.14 crore contract to World Food Programme (WFP) of United Nations to train up Rohingya communities under “Emergency Multi-sector Rohingya Crisis Response” project.
The government will implement the project under its agreement with International Development Agency (IDA) to provide training to Rohingya people for different employment-generation jobs.
The government will provide Tk 3 crore while World Bank will provide rest of the fund to implement the project.
