Dhaka, Mar 7 (UNB)— Bangladesh will celebrate the International Women's Day on Friday with the rest of the world, highlighting women's rights and empowerment.
This year’s theme is 'Think equal, build smart, innovate for change'.
Different organisations will organise various programmes on the occasion.
Marking the day, the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has arranged a discussion meeting at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 9am on March 9. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to attend it as the chief guest.
Five women will be honoured with ‘Joyeeta Award’.
Products produced and manufactured by women entrepreneurs will be displayed in the district towns from March 8-9.
On the eve of the day, President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages, greeting all women across the world.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and all other private television channels will air special programme while newspapers will publish supplements highlighting the significance of the day.
