Shinepukur vigorously chased Rupganj’s 357 but crumbled for 334 with an over remaining and losing the match by 23 runs.
Nineteen-year-old left-hander Naim’s maiden century (122 off 108 balls) in List-A cricket in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) won him the man of the match award.
Tons by Naim and Naeem (108) at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan grounds created the solid base for Rupganj to post a huge total.
Rupganj posted 132 runs in the opening stand between Azmir Ahmed (48) and Naim. After Azmir got out, Naim joined captain Naeem and the pair posted another 93 runs on the board.
Naeem, a right-handed former national star, scored 108 off 98 balls with 11 fours and two sixes.
Chasing the target, Shinepukur responded strongly with a 104 opening stand between of Uday Kaul and Sabbir Hossain. Kaul fell for 29 off 35 balls.
Sabbir struck his maiden hundred in List-A, before the right-hander got out at 100 off 87 balls with eight fours and three sixes.
Despite an ideal start, Shinepukur lost captain Afif Hossain (5) and Shuvagata Hom (15) within a short time. However, Towhid Hridoy, the 18-year-old batsman, put up resistance with his 83 off 81 balls.
Sohrawordi Shuvo (34 off 28) and Sujon Hawlader (22 off 10) made some last-ditch attempts to chase the target but Shinepukur ended up losing the game by 23 runs.
Nabil Samad, a left-arm orthodox bowler of Rupganj, scalped three wickets conceding 51 runs, while Asif Hasan bagged two wickets.
