Planning Minister MA Mannan on Sunday inaugurated a three-day training programme for the divisional and district level census coordinators on the eve of the sixth agriculture census at Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) auditorium in the city.
Addressing the progamme, the minister stressed the need for establishing a comprehensive training institute for people who work with statistics.
He also said proper data is necessary for proper policy making. However, well-trained people are needed to get more accurate data in a survey or census.
BBS Director General Dr Krishna Gain, Project director of the Census Jafor Ahmed Khan, Fisheries and Livestock secretary Md. Raisul Alam Mondal, Agriculture Secretary Md Nasiruzzaman, Statistics and Information Management Department secretary Sourendra Nath Chakraborty, among others, were present there.
