Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order after hearing a bail petition.
Sub-inspector Rakibul Hasan of court police said a lawyer named SK Abu Sayeed filed the bail petition on behalf of Liaquat saying his client is more than 60 years old. Besides, he is ill. ‘’We are seeking his bail as the case is bailable,’’ argued the counsel.
However, the state opposed the petition in the court.
After hearing both sides, the court granted him bail on a bond of Tk 20,000.
Two other accused -- Tanveer-Ul-Islam, owner of the extended portion of the doomed building, and SMH Faruk, owner of the land -- also got bail on April 11.
According to the case statement, 26 people were killed while 73 injured in the fire that broke out at the FR Tower on March 28 last.
Later, Milton Dutta, in-charge of Banani Police Outpost, filed a case accusing Liaquat, Tanveer and Faruk.
Besides, some unknown people, including building management committee leaders, were made accused in the case.
