Jhenidah, Jan 19 (UNB) – Trains resumed running from Dhaka to Khulna and Rajshahi on Saturday morning after an 18-hour gap.
The derailment of a passenger train in the district’s Kutchandpur station had snapped the links around 4:30pm on Friday.
Golam Mostofa, the station’s master, said the engine and a wheel of Khulna-bound 'Sundarban Express' from Dhaka went off the track at Kutchandpur Railway Station, cutting the capital’s rail links with Khulna and Rajshahi.
Salvage works started after teams from Pabna and Khulna arrived at the scene on Saturday morning.
“Rail communications resumed around 10:30amm,” Mostofa said.
