“City dwellers can go for Eid shopping at both during the day and night and return home safely,” he said while distributing new clothes among the destitute at Paltan Community Centre in the afternoon on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The DMP chief said no theft incident was recorded anywhere in the city since the beginning of Ramadan. “There had been no incident of robbery and mugging during the period as police are providing security at shopping malls as well as on the streets alongside vigilance by plainclothes police,” he said.
About drug abuse, he said this menace will be rooted out from society like militancy and terrorism. “No drug trader will be spared,” he added.
Asaduzzaman Mia said adequate policemen have been deployed at railway stations, bus terminals and launch ghats. “So, Eid holidaymakers can travel to their village homes without any hassle and return to Dhaka peacefully.”
Senior DMP officials, including Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit chief Monirul Islam and Additional Commissioner (Crime) Krishnapad Roy, were present.
