Speaking at a training programme at Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council in the city’s Eskaton area, he also said the government has increased the allocation for the social safety net programmes to improve the living standard of the destitute.
Nuruzzaman urged voluntary and social organisations to play an effective role alongside the government in ensuring the welfare of helpless people.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working with a strong resolve to build a golden Bangladesh as dreamt by Bangabandhu. “Voluntary organisations can supplement the government efforts in this regard by standing beside the destitute.”
The junior minister said 62 voluntary organisations involved in social welfare activities are now registered with the social service department.
He said the government is providing various assistances, including training facilities, to the voluntary organisations for enhancing their skills and capability.
