President Hamid and his wife Rashida Khanam welcomed the guests and exchanged greetings with them.
The President hoped that the Buddhist community would continue to put in their efforts for the country`s overall development upholding the traditional norms and c the immortal ideology of Lord Buddha.
“The message of Gautama Buddha - Non-Violence is the Ultimate Religion - is still applicable to society,” he said.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah, Civil Aviation and Tourism State Minister Md Mahbub Ali, MP, Buddhist religious leaders including Sunandapriya Bhikkhu, Jinarakkhita Bhikkhu, Buddhananda Bhikkhu, former minister Dilip Barua, ruling Awami League deputy office secretary and Prime Minister’s special assistant Barrister Biplob Barua attended the reception.
The secretaries concerned to the President were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Buddhist religious leaders greeted President Hamid by presenting a flower bouquet to him.
