She also said that it is time to recognise their contribution and to bring out their sacrifice and dedication before the nation.
She made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of 49th Annual International conference organised by Bangladesh Itihas Parishad at the auditorium of Dhaka University's Teacher-Student Centre (TSC).
Speaker further said, "Women made outstanding contributions in each of our movements including our liberation war. Many of our women like Jahanara Imam contributed to form our country but their tasks are not evaluated similarly like men,"
Delivering the inaugural speech, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said, "In South Asia we treat women in dual ways. We call women as mother, goddess d
urga as her symbol. He is being worshiped. On the other hand, social status of women is dysfunctional. This is the duality, we have to stop it".
Dhaka University vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Akhtaruzzaman said, "History is the reflection of time, history contains nation's uprising, progress and phases. We have to uphold our glorious history to new generation".
The theme of this year's 49th International History Conference is "Women in history: South Asia context". Professor, historians and researchers from different universities of India and Bangladesh presented their research articles in this regard.
