Dhaka, May 21 (UNB)— Two girls, one 11-year-old and another 15, were reportedly raped in separate incidents in Kishoreganj.
In Pakundia, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two of her teen neighbours on Sunday evening in Purbopara village.
Police arrested the suspects – aged 14 and 16 years – after the girl’s mother filed a case, said investigation officer Inspector Md Shafikul Islam.
Medical tests have found evidence of rape.
A court sent the suspects to jail when they were produced before it on Tuesday.
In Katiadi, Lohajuri Union’s ward number 6 member Abdul Rashid was arrested for his alleged involvement in the gang-rape of a 15-year-old girl.
The victim was taken out of her home on May 15 with false promise of marriage and raped repeatedly for six days by three men.
Her father filed a case on Tuesday with Katiadi police accusing four men.
Sumon, 24, took the victim to one of his relatives’ house in Pakundia upazila and raped her with two of his friends, police said.
The other suspects are Shuvon and Shamim.
Katiadi police’s in-charge (investigation) Shafiqul Islam said that the girl was sent to the civil surgeon’s office for medical tests.
Arrested ward member Rashid was produced before the court.
In Feni, a young man was detained from Sonagazi upazila in the morning for allegedly raping a girl with false promise of marriage.
The victim was underage when the incidents took place five years ago.
Police named the suspect as Saifuddin Rishad, 25, son of Sahab Uddin of Charganesh village.
Rishad raped the victim several times after promising to marry her. He recently went to Qatar but refused to marry the victim upon his return as he was having an affair with another girl.
He threatened to circulate indecent videos of the victim on the internet if she tried to force him into marriage.
Police detained Rishad after the victim informed them about the threat.
“Legal actions are being taken,” Sonagazi Model Police Station OC Moin Uddin Ahmmed said. “The suspect is being interrogated.”
