BPL Football: Dhaka Abahani crush Uttar Baridhara 8-0 in biggest win
Six-time champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd recorded the biggest victory in the ongoing 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football' 2020-21 crushing Uttar Baridhara Club by 8-0 goals at the Banglabandhu National Stadium (BNS) here on Thursday.
The previous biggest wins in the ongoing league was 6-0 achieved by three teams. Dhaka Abahani against Rahmatganj MFS, Badhindhara Kings against Uttar Baridhara Club and Sheikh Jamal DC over Arambagh KS.
In the day's one-sided match, Haitian striker Kervens Belfort made a hattrick scoring four goals for Dhaka Abahani in the 34th (P), 68th, 74th and 90th minutes.

With the day's feat, Belfort advanced to the 4th slot in the league's scorers list netting 17 goals.
Local midfielder Jewel Rana struck twice in the 64th and 66th minutes while Brazilian medio Raphael Augusto and Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba netted two more goals in the 4th (P) and 41st minutes respectively.
Despite the day's well merited victory, the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani went down in the runners up race as they are in the 3rd slot in the league table securing 46 points from 23 matches.

Three times-champions Sheikh Jamal DC just inches away from the league runners-up position securing 49 points from 23 matches while Bashundhara Kings smartly clinched the league title earlier with four matches to spare and now they raises their tally to 58 points from 21 encounters.
Five more BPL matches will be on Friday at three venues.
BPL Football: Saif SC beat Uttar Baridhara 3-1
Saif Sporting Club continued their winning run in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21, beating Uttar Baridhara Club 3-1 Thursday.
Saif SC, who caused an upset by beating six times champions Dhaka Abahani 3-2 on August 13, dominated the first half 1-0 today at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Nigerian player John Okoli struck twice – in the 28th and 95th minutes – while his compatriot Kenneth Ikechukwu added another in the 66th minute.
Maruf Ahmed pulled one back for Uttar Baridhara late on (75th minute).
Despite the victory, Saif SC remained at the sixth spot in the league table, securing 38 points from 21 matches, while Uttar Baridhara remained at 10th place with 19 points from 22 encounters.
In Thursday's other match, Bangladesh Police FC beat Arambagh 1-0 at the Kamalapur Stadium in the afternoon.
Jewel hit the all-important goal for Police in the 92nd minute from a penalty.

Police remained in eighth place in the league table collecting 25 points from 22 outings. Arambagh, who were already relegated from the BPL along with Brothers Union, stayed at the bottom of the table with five points from 22 encounters.
BPL Football: Sheikh Jamal DC beat Police FC 2-1, may become runners-up
Three-time champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club brightened their chance to become runners-up in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football beating Bangladesh Police FC by 2-1 at the Banglabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
By virtue of the day's victory, Sheikh Jamal DC have secured 45 points from 21 matches to take a clear five points lead against their contenders
Dhaka Abahani Ltd and Chittagong Abahani Ltd, both bagged 40 points each from 21 encounters.
Police FC remained at the 8th slot securing 22 points from 21 outings.
Star studded Bashundhara Kings smartly clinched the league title earlier with four matches to spare and presently raised their tally to 58 points from 21 matches.
In the day's match, all the three goals were scored in the first half.

Kyrgyzstan booter Murolim Ahmedov put the Police FC ahead in the 19th minute (1-0) .
But Sheikh Jamal DC was lucky enough to level the margin four minutes later (23rd minute) by a gifted goal when Police defender Jahangir Alam Sajeeb sent the ball to his own net (1-0).
Finally, Gambian winger Suleiman Sillah scored the match-decider for Sheikh Jamal DC in the 38th minute of the match (2-1).
In the day's other league match, Uttar Baridhara Club defeated bottom placed Arambagh KS by 1-0 at the Kamalapur Stadium Monday afternoon.
Midfielder Rashedul Islam Shuvo scored the match winner for Baridhara Club in the 35th minute (1-0).

With the day's feat. Uttar Baridhara Club advanced to the 9th place in the league table collecting 19 points from 21 ties while Arambagh KS remained at the bottom with five points from 21 matches.

After the day 's shocking defeat, Dhaka Abahani Ltd went down in the runners-up race with 40 points from 21 matches while Saif SC advanced to 6th slot securing 35 points from 20 encounters.
Three times champions Sheikh Jamal DC are in the 2nd place toppling six times champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd securing 42 points from 20.

Star studded Bashundhara Kings, which smartly clinched league title with four matches to spare last Monday ,further sounded their margin securing 58 points from 21 matches.
In the day's match, Nigerian booter Kenneth Ikechukwu put Saif SC ahead in the 43rd minute while another Nigerian John Okoli doubled the margin in the stoppage time of the first half (45+2 minute).(2-0).
Haitian forward Kervens Belfort and local striker Jewel Rana scored two quick goals for the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani in the span of only one minute in the 77th and 78th minutes to level the margin (2-2).
Finally, Nigerian booter Kenneth Ikechukwu scored the match-winner for Saif SC netting his 2nd goal in the 81st minute (3-1).

In the day's another league match, Bangladesh Police FC outplayed Muktijoddha Sangshad KC by 3-1 goals at the same venue Friday evening, featuring a hattrick by Ivory Coast forward Christian Kouakou .
After a barren first half, Christian Kouakou made a hattrick scoring all the three goals for the Police FC in the 61st, 75th and 85th minutes (3-0).
Another Ivory Coast forward Ballo Famoussa netted the consolation goal for the freedom fighters team Muktijoddha in the 90th minute from a penalty. (3-1).
After the match, Police FC are in the 8th slot collecting 22 points from 20 matches while Muktijoddha SKC at the 11th place with 15 points from 20 encounters.
BPL Football: Bashundhara Kings clinch title beating Sheikh Jamal 2-0
Brazilian duo Robinho and Fernandes guided Bashundhara Kings to clinch the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 crown with four matches to spare beating three-time champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 2-0 goals at the Banglabandhu National Stadium here Monday.
With the day's victory, star studded Bashundhara Kings confirmed their 2nd BPL title securing 55 points from 20 matches. Their league crown will not hamper in case of conceding defeats in all the remaining four matches.
This is the 2nd major title for the Kings in the ongong season after winning the season' s curtain raiser meet Federation Cup Football. Kings Women's Football team also clinched the premier league football title few days back.

It will be a huge morale boost up for the Kings before participating this month's AFC Cup Football in the Maldives.
After the day's defeat, Sheikh Jamal DC out of the title race with their previous credit of 39 points from 19 encounters and joined the runners-up battle with six-time champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd, which bagged 40 points from 20 outings.
In the day's vital match, Brazilian forward Robson Robinho put the Kings ahead in the 20th minute utilising a Fernandes pass (1-0) while Brazilian midfielder Jonathon Fernandes sealed the fate of the match scoring the 2nd goal in the 62nd minute, off a Bishwanath pass (2-0).
With the day's feat, Robinho dominated the scorer list in the league scoring highest 19 goals.

In the day's other match, six times champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd advanced to the 2nd slot in the league table toppllng Sheikh Jamal DC crushing bottom placed Arambagh KS by 6-1 goals at the same venue Monday evening.
Jewel Rana made a hattrick for the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani scoring three goals in the 19th, 21st and 90+1 minutes, Nigerian booter Sunday Chizoba, Faisal Ahmed Shitol and Sohel Rana netted one goal each for the winners in the 42nd, 68th and 88th minutes respectively .
Uzbek midfielder Dilshod Nazirov scored the consolation goal for Arambagh in the 79th minute .
After the match, Dhaka Abahani Ltd moved up to the 2nd slot collecting 40 points from 20 matches while mediocre Arambagh KS remained at bottom in the 13-team league and are struggling to avoid relegation securing five points from 19 encounters.
BPL Football: Sheikh Jamal, Dhaka Abahani settle for 2-2
Six-time champions Dhaka Abahani came from two goals down to pull back a point in a 2-2 draw against three-time champions Sheikh Jamal in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 Friday.
It was one-way traffic for almost the whole of the first 45 minutes as Sheikh Jamal came out firing on all cylinders at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Gambian striker Pa Omar Jobe gave them the lead in the 31st minute (1-0) while his compatriot Solomon King extended it in the 45th minute (2-0).

However, Abahani struck back twice through Nigerian player Sunday Chizoba and Haitian striker Kervens Belfort after the break.
Sunday got his name on the scoresheet in the 52nd minute (2-1), while Kervens restored parity three minutes before the final whistle (2-2).
Omar emerged as the second-highest goal scorer of the league along with Bashundhara Kings' Argentine booter Raul Becerra after adding to his tally Friday. Both players scored 16 goals each. Brazilian booter Robson Robinho of the Kings dominated scorer list with 18 goals.

The draw gave second-placed Sheikh Jamal 39 points from 18 matches. Dhaka Abahani remained at the third spot with 37 points from 19 outings.
Bashundhara Kings stayed at the top of the table with 52 points from 19 matches.
BPL Football: Police come from behind to force draw against Mohammedan
Bangladesh Police came from a goal down to pull back a point in a 1-1 draw against Dhaka Mohammedan in the 20th round match of the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 Thursday.
Jafar Iqbal, the 21-year-old promising midfielder from Bandarban, put Mohammedan ahead in the 17th minute (1-0) and they maintained the lead till the 85th minute of the match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
But Police FC's Ivory Coast player Christian Kouakou scored four minutes before the final whistle to depart with a 1-1 draw against Mohammedan.

The victory gave fifth-placed Dhaka Mohammedan 33 points from 19 matches. Police remained at eighth spot with 19 points from 18 outings.
Bashundhara Kings stayed at the top of the table with 52 points from 19 matches.
Second-placed Sheikh Jamal earned 38 points from 17 encounters; Dhaka Abahani remained at third spot with 36 points from 18 outings.

In the remaining 20th round match on Friday, two former champions Dhaka Abahani and Sheikh Jamal DC will meet each other at 4pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
BPL Football: Bashundhara beat Muktijoddha 3-0; move closer to league title
Star-studded Bashundhara Kings moved closer to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 title Wednesday with a 3-0 victory against Muktijoddha Sangsad.
Brazilian duo Robson Robinho (20th minute), Jonathon Fernandes (78th minute) and Argentine forward Raul Becerra (55th minute) scored one goal each for the Kings at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Robinho is now dominating the highest goal scorers' list with 18 goals, while the second-highest goal scorer Raul Becerra has scored 16.

The victory gave Bashundhara 52 points from 19 matches. Muktijoddha remained at the 11th spot securing 15 points from 18 outings.
Second-placed Sheikh Jamal earned 38 points from 17 encounters; Dhaka Abahani remained at third spot with 36 points from 18 outings.
In the day's other match, Sheikh Russel moved to the sixth spot in the league table, with 30 points from 19 matches, after beating Arambagh 3-0 at the Kamalapur Stadium in the afternoon.

Arambagh remained at the bottom of the 13-team league with five points from 18 outings.
Ugochukwu put Sheikh Russel ahead in the 34th minute, Siyoush doubled the margin in the 80th minute. Baktyir sealed the fate of the match, adding the third goal in stoppage time (90+4 minute) from a penalty.
In the remaining 20th round matches, Dhaka Mohammedan SC will play against Police FC at 4pm Thursday; Dhaka Abahani will face Sheikh Jamal DC at 4pm Friday, both at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Coming from behind, Chittagong Abahani Ltd beat Uttar Baridhara Club by 4-3 goal in a keenly contested Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football '2020-21 match at the Kamalapur Stadium on Tuesday.
The 20th round 2nd phase league matches began Tuesday after a break of two weeks for the countrywide lockdown and also for Eid vacation.
With the day's hard-fought victory, the sky blue team from the port city of Chattagram advanced to the 4th slot in the league table toppling Dhaka Mohammedan SC securing 34 points from 19 matches.
Bashundhara Kings poised for their 2nd league crown as they comfortably dominated the league securing 49 points from 18 matches while Sheikh Jamal DC and Dhaka Abahani Ltd followed them distantly with 38 and 36 points playing 17 and 18 matches respectively.
Uttar Baridhara Club remained at the 10th place in the 13-team league with their previous credit of 15 points from 18 matches.

In the day's match, Uzbek midfielder Yevgeniy Kochnev put Uttar Baridhara Club ahead in the very 10th minute from a penalty (1-0).
Brazilian forward Nixon Brizolara leveled the margin in the 21st minute (1-1) and put Abahani ahead from behind scoring his 2nd goal in the 41st minute (2-1).
Nigerian booter Matthew Chinedu scored the 3rd goal for Abahani in the 50th minute (3-1) while local boy Rakib Hossain netted the 4th goal in the 59th minute which kissed the Baridhara net touching their Uzbek defender S Fozilov (4-1).
But, the match turned exciting when Uttar Baridhara's captain Sumon Reza and Papon Singh scored two successive goals in a span of 13 minutes in the 67th and 89th minutes respectively to make the match close (4-3).
In the day's other match, Rahmatganj MFS earned a 2-0 goal victory against Brothers Union Club at the Banglabandhu National Stadium here Tuesday afternoon.

After a barren first half, Ivory Coast booter Christ Remi scored first for Rahmatganj in the 49th minute (1-0) while Nigerian booter Felix Odili sealed the fate of the fate scoring the 2nd goal in the stoppage time (93rd minute) 2-0.
After the match, old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS moved to the 9th slot securing 18 points from 19 matches while the Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union now under relegation threat with 12th place collecting six points from 18 outings.
On Wednesday, league leader Bashundhara Kings will face Muktijoddha Sangsad KC at 4 pm at the BNS while Sheikh Russel KC will meet Arambagh KS also at 4pm at the Kamalapur Stadium here.
In the remaining 2Oth round matches, Dhaka Mohammedan SC will play Police FC at 4 pm on Thursday while Dhaka Abahani to play Sheikh Jamal DC also at 4 pm on Friday, both at the Banglabandhu National Stadium.
BPL Football resumes Tuesday
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 will restart Tuesday after a break of two weeks, with two matches of the 20th round.
The decision was taken at an online meeting of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Professional League Management Committee Sunday evening, with BFF Senior Vice-President and committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy in the chair.
The meeting also decided to go ahead with the league despite Bashundhara Kings' Maldives tour this month. The Kings will visit the archipelagic state to play the group matches of the AFC Cup 2021.

The meeting also decided to complete the BPL by August 21.
Chittagong Abahani will play against Uttar Baridhara at 4pm at Kamalapur Stadium and Rahmatganj will face Brothers Union at 4pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) Tuesday, according to the new fixture.
On Wednesday, league leader Bashundhara Kings will face Muktijoddha Sangsad at 4pm at the BNS and Sheikh Russel will play against Arambagh at 4pm at the Kamalapur Stadium.
In the remaining 20th round matches, Dhaka Mohammedan will play against Police FC at 4pm and Dhaka Abahani will face Sheikh Jamal at 4pm Friday at the BNS.

The BPL, which had earlier been scheduled to restart on July 24 after the Eid holidays, was deferred to July 30.
Once again, it was put off Friday. The postponement came just 60 minutes before matches had been due to start.
