3 of family among 4 dead as bus hits auto rickshaw in Cumilla
Four people, including three members of a family, were killed and four others injured as a bus hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Chandina upazila of Cumilla Monday noon.
The deceased were identified as Tanni, 20, her 10-month-old child Muntaha, her aunt Rezia Khatun and auto rickshaw driver Habibullah.
The Chattogram-bound bus hit the auto rickshaw on the highway in Dhamti area around 12 pm, leaving two female passengers dead on the spot and four people wounded, said Akul Chandra Biswas, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mainamati Highway Police Station

The injured were later rushed to Cumilla Medical College and Hospital where the driver and the child died.
Police couldn’t seize the killer bus as it fled immediately after the accident, said the OC.
Two die as truck hits bike in Sylhet
A 24-year-old youth on a bike and his cousin riding pillion died after being hit by a speeding truck in Jakiganj upazila of Sylhet on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Emon Ahmed and Muktar Hossain Laal, 23. Both were the residents of the upazila and were supposed to take the upcoming HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) exams.
The accident occurred around 11.30pm as the truck hit the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction on Jakiganj-Sylhet Road near the Kolakuta Bangla Bari area, said Md Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jakiganj police station.
The impact of the crash was such that the two died on the spot, the OC said.
“Efforts are on to nab the driver of the killer truck who sped away after the accident,” he added.
3 BCL members die in Jhenidah road crash
Three activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) died after their bike crashed into a truck parked along Jhenidah-Chuadanga Road in the Atharo Mile area of Jhenidah Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Murad Biswas, vice president of Jhenidah Government Veterinary College's BCL unit, and son of Badsha Mia, and Touhid and Samaresh of the college.
Sheikh Mohammad Sohel Rana, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the accident occurred around 10pm when the trio was speeding after being chased by members of a rival group.
Later, the three were taken to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Sajib, general secretary of Jhenidah Government Veterinary College's BCL unit, was also injured in an attack by his rivals during a meeting between the two groups at Zohan Dream Valley Park in the Kumrabari area of Sadar upazila that night, said the OC.
The rival group also chased Murad, Touhid and Samaresh while they were leaving the place on the bike.
Cinematographer Zahid Hossain killed in road accident
Cinematographer Zahid Hossain was killed in a road accident on Wednesday.
The accident occurred in Chakaria’s Baniachara area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at about 6:00am while he was going to Cox’s Bazar on his motorbike.
Many small screen artistes have expressed their grief and sorrow on social media after learning about the sad demise of Zahid.
Actress Monira Mithu has written “Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun. Our favorite cinematographer Zahid Hossain has died in a road crash. I’m just speechless. What kind of passing is this?”
“Zahid was a young, talented and smiling cinematographer of Bangladeshi media industry. He was liked by all. I can’t accept the fact that he is no more,” wrote director Gautam Kouri.

Actor Irfan Sazzad has said “I told you many times to get rid of your craze on bikes. I told you again and again that the roads of Bangladesh aren’t suitable for riding bikes. But you didn’t listen to me and now see what has happened. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun.”
Zahid has worked in numerous dramas as a cinematographer, including Bhalobashar Karagar, Paying Ghost, Lilua and The Last Hope.

Students of Government Science School and College today (September 12, 2022) blocked roads in Dhaka’s Farmgate area, demanding safe roads and protesting the death of a fellow student in a road accident in Tejgaon area yesterday.

3 youths killed as two motorcycles collide head-on with lorry in Kushtia
Three youths were killed and another was seriously injured as two motorcycles collided head-on with a lorry in Kushtia on Friday.
The victims who died were identified as Jewel, 25, of Mohini Mill area of Kushtia, Faruk Mistry, 24, son of Shaukat Ali of Kumargara area and Rahul, 20, son of Manohar Sheikh of the same area.
Injured Biplab, 20, from the Serhas area, was rushed to Kushtia General Hospital from where he was referred to Dhaka for better treatment.

The accident occurred near the Battail Ansar camp on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway around 8:30 pm on Friday, said Idris Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kushtia Highway Police.
The victims were coming towards Kushtia on two motorcycles and trying to pass each other. Suddenly both motorcycles collided head-on with a lorry near Battail Ansar camp on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway, leaving two dead on the spot.
Another one died after being rushed to hospital, added the OC.
College student killed in Ctg road crash
A 19-year-old college student was killed when a covered van hit his by-cycle in Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram on Friday, said police.
The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam Noyon, a resident of the upazila. He was a student of class XI of Nizampur Government College.
The accident occurred around 12pm when a speeding covered van hit Noyon’s by-cycle on Baryarhat-Karerhat road in Chinkirhat area, leaving him dead on spot, said Baten, sub-inspector (SI) of Zorargonj police station.
Police seized the killer vehicle, however, the driver managed to flee the scene, he added.

BGB member killed in Bhola road accident
A BGB member was killed and four others were injured when a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw near Bhola’s Ilisha Bazar area on Tuesday.
The deceased was Md Ismail Hossain Titu, 40, son of Md Anwar Hossain of Muchakandi village under Bhola Sadar upazila.
According to locals, Ismail was coming to his house in Bhola Sadar from Khagrachhari on vacation.
The accident occurred when the truck coming from the opposite direction collided with the three-wheeler on which Ismail was riding, leaving him dead on the spot.

The injured including the driver of the three-wheeler were admitted to Bhola Sadar Hospital.
Md Enayet Hossain, Officer In-charge of Bhola Model Police Station, said that the body has been sent to Bhola Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
“The helper of the truck has been held and the truck has been seized. A case under the Road Transport Act has been filed in this regard,” said the OC.
Two killed in Bogura road crash
Two people were killed and four others injured when a speeding bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Bogura highway in Hamchayapur area of Bogura’s Sherpur upazila Thursday noon.
One of the deceased was identified as driver of the three-wheeler Abdul Based, 30, son of Shahar Uddin from Birail village of Sherpur upazila’s Mirzapur union.
Identity of the other deceased couldn’t be known immediately, said Shahadat Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sherpur Highway Police Outpost.
He said the accident occurred when the bus rammed into the three-wheeler while giving side to a motorcycle coming from the wrong direction.
The collision left six people travelling the three-wheeler critically injured.
All of them were taken to Sherpur Upazila Health Complex for treatment where one of the injured died upon arrival.

The rest were transferred to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMC) where another person breathed his last a while later.
The remaining four are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Although the bus driver and his helper managed to flee, police seized the bus, said AKM Baniul Anam, In-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Outpost.
Road accident kills soldier, injuries three others in Bandarban
An army man was killed and three others were injured as a pickup van carrying them fell off the Thanchi-Alikadom Road in Headmanpara area of the district on Tuesday, said police.
The deceased was identified as Shimul, 28, a soldier of 16 ECB in the Bangladesh Army. The injured - identified as soldiers Farhad, Ibrahim and the vehicle’s driver corporal Prabir, are undergoing treatment at Thanchi Hospital.
Mohiuddin, sub inspector of Thanchi Police Station, said the accident occurred around 4pm when the driver of the vehicle lost control and it fell around 500 feet as it went off the road.

The accident left Shimul dead on the spot and the three others critically injured, said he adding that a process is underway to send the injured to CMCH for better treatment by a helicopter.
