Govt bravely tackling coronavirus situation: Khalid
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Saturday said that despite limitations in the health sector, the government is tackling the coronavirus situation bravely.
“Many more developed countries in the world have become helpless in the coronavirus situation but our government is bravely tackling the situation despite having limitations in health sector. Only maintenance of health guidelines can reduce the prevalence of coronavirus,” he said.
“We have to abide by the health guidelines to come out of the outbreak and give importance to awareness,” he said while inaugurating ambulance services programme at Jatiya Press Club.
Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) took the initiative to launch the ambulance services.
“The country’s death rate from coronavirus is now 1.23 percent while the death rate and the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in different countries in Europe, America and Russia is much higher, which shows how Bangladesh is tackling coronavirus,” he said.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday called upon all to get united for tackling the coronavirus situation instead of confusing the nation with the ‘virus of division’.
"It's not the time of doing politics….There will be lot of time to do politics. There might be differences of opinion among political parties, but Corona is our common enemy. Let's not confuse the nation with the virus of division,” said he said at an online briefing from his residence marking the historic Six-Point Day.

Coronavirus: Bangladesh sees 2,695 new cases, 37 deaths
Bangladesh recorded another spike in coronavirus cases on Wednesday when the health authorities announced detection of 2,695 new patients in the last 24 hours.
“During this period, 37 patients died, raising the death toll to 746,” Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), told a regular online briefing.
“The mortality rate is 1.35 percent in country,” she said.
SSC results to be published today
The results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations will be published in the morning.
This year, the publication of the results was delayed due to government-announced shutdown to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Students will not need to go to their respective schools to know their results. They will be able to know their results through SMS.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will announce the results through a videoconference from Ganobhaban at 10am, said a source of Education Ministry while Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni will reveal detailed information about the results at noon though a Facebook live programme.
