Huawei gets bKash's Partner Recognition Award
Chinese telecom giant Huawei has received the "Partner Recognition Award" from mobile financial service (MFS) provider bKash.
The award was declared at the virtual "Partner Recognition Program" organised by bKash recently.
Over the last few years, bKash, a subsidiary of Brac Bank, has popularised mobile financial services in Bangladesh. Huawei has been a strategic partner of bKash since 2017 and helped it on many fronts.

Huawei supports South Asia to cultivate 100,000 digital talents over five years
Jointly with the governments, universities, and industrial partners, Huawei will support South Asian countries such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal to cultivate 100,000 digital talents over the next five years, Huawei spokesperson said Thursday (May 20, 2021) at the Digital Talent Regional Summit online. Themed “Cultivating a Talent Ecosystem for Inclusive Digital Prosperity”, the summit brought together ministers and scholars from the three countries, experts and representatives from UNESCO and the ICT industry, to explore collaborative initiatives for closing the digital skill gaps and facilitating the digital transformation in the post-pandemic economic recovery.
From Bangladesh, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the State Minister for ICT; Prof Satya Prasad Majumder, Vice-Chancellor of BUET; and Beatrice Kaldun, Head of Office and UNESCO Representative to Bangladesh were present among other and shared their insights.

Huawei Carrier Congress 2021 begins in Bangladesh
Huawei Technologies Bangladesh has started a special event titled "Huawei Carrier Congress 2021" with industry stakeholders from home and abroad to exchange views about technology trends and business solutions.
Inspired by the theme "Lighting up the Future," the event will shed light on issues related to intelligent networks, digital operations and maintenance, the foundation for digital services, and 5GtoB.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar virtually inaugurated the event on Thursday and it will continue until the end of May.
The telecom operators, partners, regulators, think tanks, academia, from Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal are expected to join this event in the next few days virtually and physically, maintaining health guidelines.
Huawei Global Public Affairs Vice-President Edward Zhou said, "The congress will be showcasing almost all the latest solutions and ways of digital transformation around the globe and intensify the growth opportunity of ICT in Bangladesh. Huawei to invest $220 million in cloud ecosystem for 2021
Chinese telecom giant Huawei has announced that it will invest $220 million in the cloud ecosystem this year.
The Huawei Developer Program 2.0 will include the newly announced Huawei Cloud Partner Innovation Program, Kunpeng OpenMind Project, and Ascend OpenMind Project.

The announcement came at the 2021 Huawei Developer Conference (HDC.Cloud 2021) in China's Shenzhen on Sunday.
"By 2025, 100% of enterprises around the globe will be using cloud technology," Richard Yu Chengdong, executive director of Huawei and CEO of the cloud BU and consumer business group, said at the event.

Huawei unveils smart car components
Chinese tech giant Huawei has launched its next-generation intelligent car components and solutions including 4D imaging radar.
These products are designed to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) – building advanced intelligent vehicles – and enable the Chinese automotive industry to upgrade their technology and become a pioneer of new energy and autonomous driving, the company said at Shanghai Auto Show 2021.

The tech giant is considering innovative automotive components as its long-term strategic opportunity and will continue to channel more investments into this field, particularly into the development of autonomous driving software, to build an advanced independent driving system.
This year, Huawei will form a team of over 5,000 people working in the research and development of intelligent automotive components, and its investment in this field will be $1 billion.

Huawei plans to roll out 6G by 2030
Chinese tech giant Huawei is thinking about rolling out 6G equipment and subsequent networks by 2030 when the world is only just starting to get used to 5G networks and 5G phones.
The localised leading global ICT solutions provider's Rotating Chairman Eric Xu broke the news at the company's global analyst summit in Shenzhen.

Xu highlighted the importance of unveiling the importance of 6G to the industry and individuals at the conference. The company will also soon unveil a white paper to tell the regulators and players what 6G is.
The ICT solutions provider is now working on two things related to 6G. Xu said, "First, we are working with other players in the industry to define what 6G is. We want to discuss with businesses and consumers what 6G will look like."

Huawei to invest more in car tech
Localised global ICT solutions provider Huawei will invest more in components for intelligent vehicles.
The Chinese telecom giant's Rotating Chairman Eric Xu announced this at the 18th Global Analyst Summit in Shenzhen on Monday.
The announcement came after the recent disclosure of the financial report of 2020, where the company saw comparatively slower growth than previous years.

The first Huawei Global Analyst Summit took place in 2004 and has been held annually ever since.
This year's summit, "Building a Fully Connected, Intelligent World," will run from April 12 to 14 with several breakout sessions where industry experts from around the world can share their unique insights and discuss future trends, read a press release.

Huawei brings financial aid, free service for Asia-Pacific SMEs
Global ICT infrastructure and smart devices provider Huawei has launched "SME Support Program" with ecosystem partners in the Asia-Pacific to deliver more technical support for economic recovery amid the pandemic.
Each eligible Small and medium enterprise (SME) applicant could receive coupons worth up to $3,000 and free professional consulting service including cutting-edge cloud solutions for a variety of industry scenarios including financial service, education, e-commerce, gaming, IoT, application development, and enterprise applications.
SMEs that have an account on the Huawei Cloud official website but have never used any paid service could apply for the SME Support Program page and receive consultation from cloud experts.

Applications will be reviewed based on the company's cloud needs and the readiness of workloads for cloud deployment. This programme will continue until December 31 this year.
SMEs are the engines of growth and innovation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) region. They account for over 97% of all business and employ over half of the workforce across Apec economies.
They contribute significantly to economic growth with their share of total economic output ranging from 40-60% in most economies of the region, according to Apec.

The pandemic has forced businesses to accelerate their digital transformation and move to the cloud one to three years ahead of schedule.
"Huawei Cloud is now working with over 19,000 partners and 1.6 million developers and is committed to strengthening the digital economy to support a sustainable economic recovery. It offers over 220 services in categories such as storage, network, security, big data, AI, and IoT," read a press release.

Huawei posts 3.8% growth in 2020
Huawei's global sales revenue in 2020 rounded off at Tk11 lakh 53,000 crore, up 3.8% year-on-year, and its net profit reached Tk83,500 crore, up 3.2% year-on-year.
The company's 2020 Annual Report revealed the numbers.
"Over the past year we've held strong in the face of adversity," said Ken Hu, Huawei's Deputy Chairman.

The world’s leading ICT solutions, equipment and services provider, Huawei is going to disclose its annual business report of 2020 on Wednesday (March 31).
The company is going to share the report in a global online press conference from Shenzhen in China, said a press release.

In an announcement of this upcoming press conference, Huawei has shared that despite the difficulties and challenges posed by a complex international environment and COVID -19, it has achieved steady business performance and continued to create customer and social value.
As per last annual report, Huawei earned USD 123 billion in 2019 ensuring 19.1 percent YoY growth from 2018. And company’s global revenue for the first half of 2020 was rounded off at USD 69.4 billion, up 13.1 percent year-on-year, with a net profit margin of 9.2 percent.
This private company, wholly owned by its employees, believes that 30 years of heavy investment in R&D, its focus on customer needs, and the dedication of its 190,000+ employees have been key reasons for success over years.

Over the past 30-plus years, it has invested 10% to 15% of its annual revenue into R&D. In 2018 alone, its R&D spending reached 15 billion US dollars, making Huawei the fifth largest R&D spender worldwide according to the 2018 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard.
Huawei, has recorded its biggest ever annual jump in the number of patents it owns last year and consequently become one of the world's largest patent holders surpassing all its contenders in the market.

By the end of 2020, Huawei held over 100,000 active patents in more than 40,000 patent families worldwide, up from just over 85,000 active patents at the end of 2019. This is the company’s biggest ever annual increase in terms of patent ownership.
And recently, Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) chose Huawei for the 2021 Market Development Award for its 5G Private Network for Hualing Xianggang project, recognizing Huawei's outstanding contributions to the promotion of scaled commercial development and industry maturity of 5GtoB.
