13 more die of Covid in Khulna
Thirteen more people have died of Covid-19 at five different hospitals in Khulna in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Tuesday.
While 12 of the deceased were confirmed Covid patients, the remaining one exhibited symptoms of the virus, the officials said.

Five died at Khulna Corona Dedicated Hospital, three each at Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Hospital and Khulna City Medical Hospital, and one each in the Covid unit of Khulna General Hospital and Gazi Medical College Hospital.
Khulna Corona Dedicated Hospital nodal officer Dr Suhas Ranjan Haldar said that five people have died at the hospital in the past 24 hours. Of them, four were confirmed Covid-19 patients.
Besides, 136 people are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. "Of them, 54 are receiving treatment in the red zone, 45 in the yellow zone, 20 in the intensive care unit and 17 in the HDU," said Dr Suhas.

Some 34 people were admitted to the hospital during this 24-hour period, while 58 discharged from the hospital, he said.
Dr Gazi Mizanur Rahman, owner of the private Gazi Medical College Hospital, said that 78 people are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. "Of them, seven are being treated in the intensive care unit and eight in the HDU."
Khulna General Hospital's corona unit spokesman Kazi Abu Rashed said that one Covid patient died at the hospital since Tuesday morning.

Dr Prakash Debnath, spokesman for Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialised Hospital, said that 42 patients are currently being treated at the hospital and of them five are in the ICU.
10 more die of Covid at Kushtia hospital
Ten more people have died of Covid-19 at Kushtia General Hospital in the past 24 hours, officials said on Friday.
Of the deceased, seven had tested positive for Covid while the remaining three showed symptoms of the virus, said administrator of the hospital, Dr MA Momen.

As many as 280 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital's 250-bed Covid unit. Of them, 219 are confirmed Covid patients, officials said.
Meanwhile, 203 more people in the district have contracted the virus. Some 735 samples have been tested for Covid in the past 24 hours. This puts the district's case positivity rate at 27.61 percent.

The new numbers took Kushtia’s Covid caseload to 11,674 on Friday, while the death toll mounted to 380. So far, 7,335 people in the district have recovered from the virus.
19 more Covid patients die in RMCH
Nineteen more Covid patients have died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the last 24 hours, health officials said on Thursday .
Of the deceased, five were confirmed Covid patients, while14 others had symptoms of the virus, said hospital director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani.

Six of the patients were from Rajshahi district, three from Chapainawabganj, two each from Natore and Naogaon and six from Pabna districts.
Some 267 people died of Covid-19 at the corona unit of RMCH from July 1 to July 14.
Besides, 56 more new patients have been admitted to the hospital with Covid symptoms in the past 24 hours. Currently, 507 patients are undergoing treatment at the 454-bed hospital.

RMCH has been one of the most stretched hospitals in the country during the second wave of Covid-19, particularly since the latter part of May when the deadly Delta variant of the virus was identified in multiple samples in Rajshahi division.

Nineteen more people have died of Covid-19 at four different hospitals in Khulna in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Thursday.

Of them, 12 died at Khulna Corona Dedicated Hospital, one at the Covid unit of Khulna General Hospital, two at the private Gazi Medical College Hospital and four at Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Hospital.
Khulna Corona Dedicated Hospital's nodal officer Dr Suhas Ranjan Haldar said that 12 people have died at the hospital in the past 24 hours.
Besides, 195 people are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Of them, 134 are receiving treatment in the red zone, 21 in the yellow zone and 20 in the intensive care unit, said Dr Suhas.

Some 33 people have been admitted to the hospital in the past 24 hours. During the period, 20 people were discharged from the hospital post-recovery, he said.
Dr Gazi Mizanur Rahman, owner of Gazi Medical College Hospital, said 113 people are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Some 14 people have been admitted to the hospital in the past 24 hours and 13 discharged.

Kazi Abu Rashed, spokesman for the corona unit of Khulna General Hospital, said 12 people have been admitted to the medical facility in the past 24 hours and 11 patients discharged after recovery.
Dr Chandra Debnath Shekhar, spokesman for Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialised Hospital, said that 44 patients are currently being treated at the hospital and of them 10 are in the ICU.
Covid claims 13 more lives in Barishal
As many as 13 more people have died at Sher-E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH) in Barisal in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Thursday morning.
Of the deceased, three were confirmed Covid patients while the remaining 10 showed symptoms of the virus.

Divisional Health Director Dr Basudev Kumar Das said that 368 patients have died of Covid-19 in the division so far. Besides, 500 people have tested positive for Covid in the division in the past 24 hours.
Of the 500 fresh Covid cases in the division, 192 have been identified in Barisal district alone. So far, 10,498 people have been infected with Covid-19 in the district.
On Tuesday, the division recorded the highest single-day Covid cases at 879.

So far, some 24,596 Covid patients have been identified in the division and 16,600 of them have recovered.
According to SBMCH authorities, 54 more patients have been admitted to the hospital in the past 24 hours. Besides, 279 Covid patients are currently undergoing treatment at the corona unit of SBMCH.
14 more die of Covid in Kushtia
Amid an alarming surge in Covid-19 cases in the district, authorities at Kushtia General Hospital on Thursday recorded 14 more deaths in 24 hours.
Of the deceased, 10 were confirmed Covid patients while the remaining four showed symptoms of the virus, said Dr MA Momen, administrator of Kushtia General Hospital.

Besides, 273 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the district in the past 24 hours. "Some 894 samples were tested during the period," he said.
The positivity rate currently stands at 30.53%.

Moreover, a total of 285 patients with Covid symptoms are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
So far, 11,493 people have been infected with the virus in the district, while the death toll stands at 370. On the other hand, 7,156 people have recovered from Covid in the district to date.
Covid: 18 more patients die at Rajshahi hospital, fresh cases drop
Eighteen more Covid patients have died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Friday.
However, the district's daily new Covid cases has recorded a marginal decline, with 88 people testing positive for corona in 24 hours that's 8.41% less than a day before.

Hospital Director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani said that three of the deceased were confirmed Covid patients, while the remaining showed symptoms of the virus.
Of the deceased, 10 were from Rajshahi district, two each from Chapainawabganj, Naogaon and Natore, and one each from Kushtia and Sirajganj districts.

"Meanwhile, 88 people have tested positive for corona at the hospital in the past 24 hours. A total of 479 samples were tested in two laboratories of the district during the period," the director said.
The positivity rate currently stands at 18.16%, which was 26.57% a day before.

Shamim Yazdani also said that 74 people have been admitted to the corona unit of the hospital in 24 hours. During the period, 52 people were discharged from the hospital after recovery.
Moreover, 501 people are currently undergoing treatment against 454 beds at the corona unit of the hospital. Among them, 20 patients are in the ICU.
17 more die of Covid at Kushtia hospital
Kushtia General Hospital on Thursday morning reported 17 more Covid-related deaths in 24 hours amid an alarming surge in the number of new infections in the district.
Of the deceased, 10 were confirmed Covid patients while the remaining seven showed symptoms of the virus, said Dr MA Momen, administrator of Kushtia General Hospital.

Besides, 232 people have tested positive for corona in the district in the past 24 hours. "A total of 743 samples were tested during the period," he said.
The positivity rate currently stands at 31.22%, which was 29.21% a day before.

Moreover, a total of 289 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital with Covid symptoms.
Dr Tapas Kumar Sarkar, the resident medical officer of the hospital, said patients had to be treated on the floor and in the corridor as there were no beds. "Every day, the number of patients coming to the hospital with corona and symptoms is increasing in the district."

So far, 9,664 people have been infected with the virus in the district, while the death toll from Covid topped 286. On the other hand, a total of 6,030 people have recovered from Covid to date.
Kushtia hospital sees 8 new Covid deaths
Kushtia General Hospital on Wednesday morning reported eight more Covid-related deaths in 24 hours amid an alarming surge in the number of new infections in the district.
Of the deceased, six were confirmed Covid patients while the remaining two showed symptoms of the virus, said Dr MA Momen, administrator of Kushtia General Hospital.

Besides, 189 people have tested positive for corona in the district in the past 24 hours. "A total of 681 samples were tested during the period," he said.
The positivity rate currently stands at 28.42%, which was 33.89% a day before.

Moreover, a total of 194 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital with Covid symptoms.
Dr Momen, however, said there is no oxygen crisis in the hospital at present. "Now on, it will be possible to refill upto 100 oxygen cylinders in Kushtia itself on a daily basis."

Kushtia Civil Surgeon HM Anwarul Islam said that many patients died in the district hospitals before their test reports came. "One of the reasons being people not obeying the Covid-safety protocols and restrictions," he said.
So far, 7,726 people have contracted Covid in the district, while the death toll from the virus currently stands at 202. A total of 5,485 people have recovered to date.
No lockdown for health sector: Minister
There will be no lockdown for the health sector in Bangladesh as the number of Covid patients is increasing day by day, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Sunday.
Talking to reporters at the Secretariat, he also said there would be police, BGB and army members on the streets to monitor people and vehicles during the lockdown to be enforced to slow down the coronavirus transmission.

The minister hoped that people across the country would abide by the health guidelines by wearing masks, maintaining social distance and sanitizing hands.

Already, 5,000 to 6,000 Covid patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, the minister said, adding: "We’ve got a very large population. If we want to protect that population from infections, we must follow the health protocols."
Zahid Maleque said the country’s economy would suffer badly if the coronavirus is not effectively controlled.
