Body of 7-yr-old boy found in Gazipur
Police on Friday recovered the body of a seven-year-old boy after he went missing for two days in Gazipur.
The deceased is Mohammad Ali, 7, son of Aynal Hossain from Maijhpara village under Chapainawabganj’s Sadar upazila.
According to police, Ali went missing when he left home for playing on Wednesday noon. As he didn’t return home in the evening, his family started searching for him.
“Not finding the boy anywhere, Ali’s mother filed a General Diary (GD) with Bason police station on Thursday. On Friday morning, local people found the boy’s body floating in a pond and informed police, who then went to the spot and recovered it,” said Mohammad Ali, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Bason Police Station.

Ali added that police are suspecting that the boy died by drowning.
“The body has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, after which the exact reason of Ali’s death will be known,” added the SI.
Woman’s body recovered in Kushtia
Police recovered the body of a woman from the rail tracks in Dari Maliat area under Kushtia’s Kumarkhali upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased is Shammi Akter Samia, 20, daughter of Saidul Islam from Sherkandi area of Kumarkhali municipality of the district.
According to police, the woman used to make Tiktok videos. The body was recognised by her uncle and younger sister on Sunday noon.
“A case of unnatural death has been filed with Kumarkhali Police Station in this regard,” said Tonmoy Bhattacharjee, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Poradah Railway Police Station.

The family of the deceased has been demanding that Samia did not commit suicide, rather she was murdered.
Her mother Hasina Khatun said Samia went out to visit her aunt’s house in Dari Maliat area at about 6:00pm on Saturday. But after she didn’t return home by 8:00pm they started looking for her.
On Sunday morning, they went to the morgue of Kushtia General Hospital after learning that police had recovered a body the night before, she said.
“There we found the severed body of our daughter,” said the mother.

Md Imdadul Haque, Officer In-charge (OC) of Poradah Railway Police Station, said that they recovered Samia’s body upon receiving information from local people.
“The exact reason of the death will be known once the autopsy is done,” said Imdadul.
Injury marks found on ex-BCL leader Biplab’s body, says physician who conducted autopsy
Former general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s (BCL) Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit Duranta Biplab might have been murdered as some injury marks were found on his body, said a physician after conducting autopsy on Sunday.
“Injury marks were found on the back of the head and chest of Biplab,” said Dr Mofiz Uddin Pradhan Nipun, a physician at Narayanganj General Hospital where the autopsy was done.
It is suspected that he died after being hit on the back of the head with a heavy object, said the physician.
“It can be confirmed after receiving the final report of the post-mortem. But initially, it can be said that Biplab was murdered,” he added.
Biplab was also a member of the Agriculture and Cooperative Sub-Committee of the Central Awami League.

Biplab, 51, went missing while going to Mohammadpur from Keraniganj to meet his mother on November 7.
The body of was fished out from the Buriganga river in Jajira area of South Keraniganj on Saturday afternoon, said Shahab Uddin Kabir, Additional Superintendent of Police of Keraniganj circle.
Biplab’s family members came to Narayanganj early Sunday and identified body from a photo.
A general diary (GD) was filed at Keraniganj police station in this regard, said deceased’s brother Durjoy.
Missing ex-BCL leader’s body recovered from Buriganga
River police have recovered the body of a former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s (BCL) Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit from the Buriganga river in Jajira area of South Keraniganj, five days after he went missing.
The body of Duranta Biplab, 51, son of late Abdul Mannan from Choto Ilashpur of Netrokona’s Purbadhala upazila, was fished out from the river on Saturday afternoon, said Shahab Uddin Kabir, Additional Superintendent of Police of Keraniganj circle.

Biplab was the General Secretary of BCL’s JU unit and a member of Awami League’s (AL) sub-committee on Agriculture and Cooperatives, said police.
According to the relatives of the deceased, Biplab went missing while going to Mohammadpur from Keraniganj to meet his mother on November 7 and police recovered the body.
The last tracked location of Biplab’s mobile phone was in Muslimbagh area of Kamrangirchar, police added.

Biplab’s family members came to Narayanganj early Sunday and identified him from a photo.
The body has been kept at the morgue of Narayanganj General Hospital for an autopsy. “We’ll consult his family members and take legal steps once the autopsy is done,” said Shahab Uddin Kabir.
Body of a man found at Matlab in Chandpur
Police with the help of local residents on Wednesday recovered the body of a local BNP leader from beside a road at Matlab Uttar upazila in Chandpur.
The victim-- Salimullah Lavlu--was a general secretary of Fatehpur Paschim union unit BNP. He was 50 and a resident of Mandartali village under the upazila.
The victim’s son Laviv and some relatives said that one schoolboy named Shipon hit the leg of Laviv after his school on Tuesday.
A brawl broke out between Lavlu and Shipon after the incident.
Later, Shipon along with his friends went to the house of Laviv and threatened them.
Van driver Jahangir Alam spotted the body lying beside the road when he was crossing the area at Mandartali village during early hours on Wednesday.

Mohammad Mohiuddin Mia, officer-in-charge of Motlab Uttar police station, said they rushed to the spot after hearing the news and recovered the body.
The body was sent to Chandpur General Hospital for an autopsy, he said.
The OC said they would wait for the autopsy report to know the reason behind the murder.
No case was filed immediately, he said.
Missing child found dead in Jashore
A four-year-old girl, who went missing two days ago, has been found dead in Sadar upazila in Jashore.
The deceased was identified as Sanzida.
On information, Detective Branch of Jashore police recovered the body from her neighbour’s house in Patengakhali village of the upazila Saturday night, said Mofizul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Jashore DB police.
Sanzida went missing from her home on Friday noon. A FIR was lodged at Kotwali police station in this regard.
Police detained their neighbour Anjuara for questioning.
During questioning, she confessed that she had hidden the body inside a rice drum at her home, said SI Mofizul.
The body was sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali police station.
Karatoya boat tragedy: Death toll rises to 69
The death toll from the boat capsize in the Karatoya river of Panchagarh rose to 69, with the recovery of another body on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Himalay Chandra, son of Biren Chandra of Boda upazila.
Fire service divers fished out the body from the Karatoya River near Aulia ghat in the upazila, said Dipankar Roy, additional district magistrate.
Bodies of 30 women, 21 children and 18 men were recovered while three others are still missing, he added.
Meanwhile, the five-member probe body, headed by additional DM Roy, got three additional days to submit the probe report, said Md Zahurul Islam, deputy commissioner of Panchagarh.
On Tuesday, divers from three firefighting units recovered the 18 bodies from different spots of the river.
On Sunday, the overloaded passenger boat carrying around 80 people, mostly Hindu devotees, sank in the middle of the river while heading towards Badheshwar Temple on the occasion of Mahalaya at 2.30pm.
Some 25 bodies were recovered from the river on that day only, while many others managed to swim ashore.
This is the worst waterways accident the country witnessed after the devastating fire incident in a Barguna-bound launch off the coast of Jhalakathi on December 24 last year that left 50 people dead.
Floating body of youth recovered from Kaptai Lake
The floating body of a youth was recovered from Kaptai Lake in Sadar upazila of Rangamati district Thursday morning.
The deceased is identified as Illias Hossain Kanchan, son of Ali Akbar of Barkal upazila in the district.
Aumar Kumar Chakma, chairman of Balukhali union parishad, said locals found the body floating in the lake in the morning and informed police.

Later, the body was recovered and sent for autopsy, he said.
Md Kabir Hosssain, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said body was partially decomposed.
Body of missing youth recovered from river in Chuadanga
The body of a 25-year-old youth has been recovered from the Mathabhanga River, a day after he jumped into the river while trying to run away from police.
The deceased was identified as Tokon Ali, son of Auduchh Uddin of Notunpara area under Alamdanga upazila in the district.
Jahidul Islam, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Hatboulia Police Outpost, said on information they chased four people who were playing cards under a bush on the bank of the river in Bhanbaria village around 12pm on Wednesday.
Though two of the four were caught and detained, the other two jumped in the river to avoid capture.
Tokon Ali, a vegetable vendor, was washed away with a heavy tide as he didn’t know how to swim. The other one managed to swim to safety, the ASI said.
Police and local people carried out a search and rescue operation in the river on Wednesday but failed to find him the entire day, the police officer said, adding that they released the detained as nothing illegal was found regarding them.
Later, a diving team from Khulna Fire Service recovered the body from the river in Natibhanga Ghat area under Baradi Union on Thursday afternoon.
Anisuzzaman Lalon, additional superintendent of the district police, termed the incident as unexpected.

Bodies of two youths found in Buriganga, Turag rivers
River police have recovered bodies of two youths from the Buriganga and Turag rivers in the city.
Mohammad Abdul Halim, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of River Police’s Basila outpost, said that a body was found from Buriganga river’s Kamrangirchar point on Friday around 2:30pm.
“We haven’t been able to find out the identity of the body yet. The body has been sent to the morgue of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (SMCH) after autopsy. There was no injury mark on the body,” said the SI.

Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer In-charge (OC) of River Police’s Aminbazar outpost, said that the body of a youth was recovered from Turag River’s Adabor Turag Housing Society point on Friday afternoon.
“We are suspecting that the body fell into the river five to six days ago. The age of the youth was around 30. The cause of the death will be known once the autopsy report is ready,” said the OC.
