Global Covid cases top 605 million
The overall number of Covid cases has now surged past 605 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 605,429,512 and the death toll reached 6,487,034 on Sunday morning.
The US has recorded 96,003,404 cases so far and 1,069,124 people have died from the virus in the country, both the highest counts around the world, accounting for nearly 16 percent of the global cases and more than 16 percent of the global deaths.
India's daily COVID-19 caseload on Saturday fell below the 10,000 mark, with 9,520 new cases being reported during the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,398,696, the world's second largest caseload, according to official data.
The country also logged 41 related deaths during the past 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 527,597 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.

Covid in Bangladesh
Two more people died from Covid, and 156 tested positive for the virus in Bangladesh in the 24 hours till Saturday morning.
While the country's total fatalities reached 29,323, the new number took its caseload to 2,011,100, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case test positivity rate rose to 4.26 from Friday's 4.15 percent as 3,663 samples were tested.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 percent and the recovery rate at 97.22 percent.

Bangladesh recorded four more Covid-19-linked deaths with 621 new cases in 24 hours till Tuesday morning.
With the latest figures, the country's total fatalities reached 29,275 while the caseload 2,002,944, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case positivity rate dropped to 6.14 per cent from Monday's 7.84 per cent as 10,053 samples were tested.

The deceased included two men and two women. Two of them were from Chattogram, and one each from Dhaka and Sylhet divisions.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 percent. The recovery rate rose to 96.78 per cent from Monday's 96.75 per cent.
In June, the country reported 18 Covid-linked deaths and 20,201 new cases, according to the DGHS.

Bangladesh recorded seven more Covid-linked deaths with 1,072 cases in 24 hours till Monday morning.With the latest figures, the country's total fatalities reached 29,241 while the caseload 1,997,412, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).Of the deceased, four were men and three were women. Covid: Bangladesh logs 4 months’ highest 12 deaths with 2,285 cases
Bangladesh registered 12 more Covid-linked deaths with 2,285 cases in 24 hours till Monday morning amid rapid surge in new infections.
The fresh numbers took the country's total caseload to 1,980, 974 and the total fatalities to 29,174, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The country last reported 13 Covid-linked deaths with 368 cases while the daily positivity rate was at 2. 11 per cent on March 5 this year.
The daily case positivity rate rose to 16.51 per cent from Sunday’s 15.53 per cent as 13,842 samples were tested during the period, said the DGHS.
Of the deceased, nine were men and three were women. Of them, nine were from Dhaka and one each from Chattogram, Khulna and Mymensingh divisions.

Of the 22 deaths reported from June 27 to July 3, some 72.7 per cent received vaccine against Covid-19.

On Sunday, the country recorded two Covid-linked deaths with 1,902 new cases.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.47 per cent. The recovery rate declined to 96.36 per cent from Sunday’s 96.44 per cent as 482 patients recovered during this period.

Bangladesh reports 71 Covid cases, zero death
Bangladesh registered 71 new Covid cases in 24 hours till Saturday morning taking the country's total caseload to 1,954,006.
The country's total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,131 as no death was reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily test positivity rate decreased to 1.14 per cent from Friday’s 1.35 per cent as 6,225 samples were tested during this time.

The country on Friday saw 64 cases with zero death.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.49 per cent. The recovery rate also remained static at 97.50 per cent as 110 patients recovered during this period.
In May, the country reported only four Covid-linked deaths and 816 new cases, while 7,356 patients recovered from the disease, according to the DGHS.
Among the four deaths during the period, one was vaccinated with single dose of Covid vaccine while three were vaccinated with two doses.

Road accidents claim 166 lives, Covid 85 in Bangladesh in March: BHRC
Some 248 people were killed in different incidents including road accident in March in Bangladesh, according to a report of Bangladesh Human Rights Commission (BHRC).
Bangladesh saw 85 Covid-linked deaths during the same time, said the report.
Of the 248 deaths, 166 died in different transport accidents, 35 died due to unknown reasons, 18 died in family violence, four in social violence, four by assailants, two by members of law enforcement agencies, two by kidnappers, one by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) while 13 by suicide.
Global Covid cases top 479 million
The overall number of Covid cases has surged past 479 million as the pandemic enters into its third year.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 479,000,756 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,114,171 Saturday morning.
The US has recorded 79,936,777 cases so far and 976,505 people have died from the virus in the country, the university data shows.
India's Covid-19 tally rose to 43,018,032 on Saturday, as 1,660 new cases were registered in 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry data.

Besides, as many as 4,100 deaths due to the pandemic were reported since Friday morning, taking the total death toll to 520,855.
This sudden rise in the number of deaths in the country was because "4,005 deaths were reconciled by Maharashtra", said a senior official at the federal health ministry.
Meanwhile, Brazil, which has been experiencing a new wave of cases since January last year, registered 29,809,769 cases as of Saturday, while its Covid death toll rose to 658,855.
Situation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh logged 102 fresh Covid cases in 24 hours till Friday morning, taking the total caseload to 19,51,174.
As per the latest government data, the country’s total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,118 as no death was reported during the period.
The daily positivity rate increased to 1.03 per cent from Wednesday’s 0.76 per cent after testing 9,832 samples during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Besides, the mortality rate remained unchanged too at 1.49 per cent.
The recovery rate rose to 96.15 per cent with the recovery of 1,268 more patients during the 24-hour period.

Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate declined to 1.16 per cent from Thursday’s 1.69 per cent after testing 9,322 samples during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the new deceased, one was a woman and another man.

Bangladesh logged zero Covid-related death in 24 hours till Tuesday morning after more than three months amid signs that the pandemic is easing with declining positivity rate.
The country, however, logged 217 more infections during the 24-hour period.
On December 9 last year, Bangladesh logged zero Covid-related death with 262 cases.

Bangladesh logged three more Covid-linked deaths with 327 fresh cases in 24 hours till Thursday morning amid a continuous downtrend in the positivity rate.
The daily positivity rate slightly declined to 1.91 per cent from Wednesday’s 1.97 per cent after testing 17,093 samples during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
On Wednesday, Bangladesh reported one Covid-linked death with 323 fresh cases.
The fresh numbers took the country’s total fatalities to 29,100 while the caseload to 19, 48,798.

All the three deceased were men.
Two of the deaths were reported from Dhaka division while one from Khulna division.
