Saiful Alam Swapan Chowdhury was Mashud’s rival in this election. He has previously served the BCB as a director for two terms.
“On the occasion of the BCB election, many fans, well-wishers, cricketers and many more people have called me and wished me good luck. I would like to thank you all. For me, the biggest win is your love. I’ve always been with cricket, and I will be the same,” Mashud added.

BCB has a total of 25 posts for the directors, and two will be nominated by the National Sports Council (NSC). The election is for the other 23 posts.
A total of 32 candidates had collected nomination papers, and two of them had recalled their participation before the election. The election was held for 16 posts, which later came down to 14 posts as two other candidates recalled their participation on the eve of the election.
However, their name was printed on the ballots as they recalled their participation after the deadline.
A total of 10 directors are supposed to be elected from the representatives of regional and district cricket bodies, 12 directors are supposed to be elected from the representatives of the Dhaka-based clubs, and one director is supposed to be elected from another category.

Bangladesh cricket fraternity pays homage to Jalal Chowdhury
Veteran cricket coach, journalist and author Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury breathed his last on Tuesday at a Dhaka hospital. He was 74.
His demise cast a pall of gloom over the country’s sports arena and among cricket players, writers and commentators in particular. The cricket fraternity said a tearful farewell to him.
Jalal had been suffering from lung infection and respiratory problems. He was admitted to the hospital in early September. After feeling slightly better he returned home, but on the night of September 14, he was brought to the hospital again and admitted to the ICU.
Since his condition kept deteriorating over time, he was put in ventilation. After more than a couple of days in ventilation, Jalal breathed his last on Tuesday morning.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed profound sadness on his death addressing him as “former National Team coach”, “cricket analyst”, “cricketer” and “eminent sportswriter”.
During the mid-1960s, Jalal started his cricket career in the Dhaka League as an opening batsman and wicketkeeper for the Udity Club.
He later played for the Young Pegasus, Town Club and Dhanmondi Club and represented Bangladesh Railway in the National Championship competition. He was a member of the first Bangladesh side in post-independence Bangladesh (Tour of MCC in 1977).
“It’s difficult to say goodbye to whom you started your cricketing life with,” Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Bangladesh’s former captain said on his social media handle.
“Your calmness in the dressing room, your orders to do something, playing under your coaching— everything is now just memory. Who saw your contribution to Bangladesh cricket, will remember you forever. May Allah grants you Jannah,” he added.
Bangladesh’s Test captain Mominul Haque also paid homage to his “favourite coach”, and asked to pray for his place in heaven.
Many senior and young sports journalists also paid homage to the deceased. Arifur Rahman Babu, a veteran journalist, said that Jalal Ahmed was “a great source of inspiration” for the sportswriters in Bangladesh.
“He was a father figure for all of us, he was a guardian, he was an advisor, a well-wisher. I was so close to him. We will obviously miss him forever,” Arifur, who is a special correspondent at JagoNews24, wrote on his social media handle.
Ariful Islam Roney, another journalist, addressed Jalal Ahmed as ambidextrous. He wrote on his social media handle: “Jalal bhai was ambidextrous. He played many roles in his life. But to me, he had always been a true cricket-lover.”
Among his many roles, Jalal Ahmed was a general secretary of the Bangladesh Sports Journalist Association (BSJA). He was the chief election commissioner in the last election of BSJA.
Jalal received his diploma in cricket coaching from the National Institute of Sports in Patiala, India in 1979 and subsequently coached prominent Dhaka League teams Abahani, Mohammedan, Victoria, Shadharan Bima, Azad Sporting, PWD, Dhanmondi Club and Kalabagan.
In his distinguished coaching career, Jalal had been associated with the Bangladesh national cricket team on a number of occasions. He was one of the coaches of the Bangladesh 1979 and 1997 ICC Trophy squads. He was the head coach of Bangladesh in the ICC U19 World Cup in 2002.
Jalal was one of the rare journalists in Bangladesh, who was fluent both in Bangla and English writing. He worked at the New Nation newspaper for more than a decade. He wrote for almost all main national Bangla dailies published from Dhaka.
He had also served the BCB as a member of its different standing committees which include Game Development, Cricket Operations and the Umpires Committee.
Minister of the Ministry of Youth & Sports - Bangladesh, Zahid Ahsan Russel, also paid homage to Jalal Ahmed. In his condolence message, Zahid Ahsan said: “The death of Jalal Ahmed came as an irreplaceable damage for Bangladesh's sports arena.”
Tamim Iqbal desires to win the 2023 World Cup as Captain

The most successful batsman of Bangladesh also made a prediction for the T20 World Cup, which will begin next month. Some of the key points Tamim Iqbal discussed during the conversation are extracted in this article.
Tamim Iqbal's Mission for the 2023 World Cup
When Russell Arnold, the host of the "Chilling With Russel" show, asked Tamim Iqbal about his future plans, he responded that he wants to play for Bangladesh for a few more years. Because he has the ability to stretch his cricket career.

Tamim Iqbal explained his current position in Bangladesh cricket by saying that the senior players, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mahmudullah Riyad all have been playing together for a long time. They have won international matches and series, but they haven't accomplished anything big for Bangladesh.
ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Bangladesh Team needs to improve three things before the tournament starts
The UAE and Oman will host the seventh edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in the next month. A total of 16 countries will compete in this competition. The top eight teams in the ICC T20I team rankings have qualified for the Super 12s. The remaining eight teams will be split into two groups to play qualifiers in order to be eligible for the Super 12s. Bangladesh team is hoping to do well in this year's competition. However, there are three things Bangladesh need to work on before the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 which are discussed in this article.
ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Things that Bangladesh Team Needs to Improve
Mahmudullah Riyad-led Bangladesh team will compete in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Only Tamim Iqbal will not partake in the main event among the senior players. Let's look at the areas that Bangladesh must address before the main event.
The Top order's Consistent Performance
The ICC encourages batsmen to score runs during the main event in order to attract spectators. Therefore, all four T20 World Cup venues will likely contain sporting pitches. It is expected that some run-fest contest will take place in this event and the Bangladesh team management would be prepared for this.

Bangladesh's first task is to ensure that the top order performs consistently. Half of the job will be done for the team tigers if the top order guarantees the type of start Bangladesh expects.
In the absence of veteran Tamim Iqbal, one of Bangladesh's openers would have to shoulder extra responsibility to anchor the innings during the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Because the openers can set up the platform for Bangladesh innings.
We saw how Bangladesh's top order struggled in both the Australian and New Zealand series. Liton Das and Mohammad Naim were the only opening duo to reach 50 runs in the second match of New Zealand series. They made a 59-run partnership, and Bangladesh scored 141/6. The only time Bangladesh scored 140 or more runs in the previous ten T20Is.

Mohammad Naim is likely to start the innings for Bangladesh in the World Cup, given his recent performances. Naim didn't play any big knock In the past three series, but he made sure that he stayed at the crease till the death overs.
Naim will be paired with either Liton Das or Soumya Sarkar in the World Cup. Because in the previous series, neither of them had been consistent. Whoever opens the innings for Bangladesh will be responsible for increasing the run rate at the start of the innings, while Naim's task will be to stay at the crease till the end.
Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has struggled with the bat since returning to international cricket in January. Shakib Al Hasan was in great touch with the bat at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, assisting Bangladesh in winning some matches. Shakib's batting will be hoped to re-ignite and enable Bangladesh achieve something special in the world cup.

Power Hitting in Slog Overs
Bangladesh are short on power hitters in the death overs. That is why, Bangladesh usually fail to post a large total despite a strong start. As a result, they will need quality hitters in the middle order to help them accelerate run rates and put up a competitive score.
Bangladesh have Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Shamim Hossain, and Captain Mahmudullah Riyad in the middle order. Death overs are crucial in T20 cricket, especially when it comes to scoring a competitive total. Everyone should be able to hit big shot when required.
Nurul Hasan and Afif Hossain have shown encouraging performances in recent series. We should anticipate them to go all out during the forthcoming competition. In addition, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim would be vital for Bangladesh.

Effective Bowling Performance
Bangladesh's bowlers must maintain a level of consistency. The bowlers' performances in the New Zealand and Australia series will not be replicated in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Because the pitches were heavily stacked in favor of the spinners. Even the pacers had rattled the batters using the sluggish nature of the wickets.
Mustafzur Rahman had shown his ability with the ball. Pacers Shoriful Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin also had good outing. Among the spinners, Nasum Ahmed got the headlines most of the time with his brilliant spin bowling. Mahedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan did their job well.
However, we must keep in mind that the pitches in the ICC T20 World Cup would be more difficult for the bowlers. Batsmen may find ways to score runs, while bowlers would struggle to control run rates.
Read ESPNcricinfo’s Mohamad Isam to conduct online sports journalism course
Many cricket analysts were dissatisfied with the decision to offer bowling-friendly surfaces in both the Australia and New Zealand series. Bangladesh's think tank, particularly the bowling coaches, must plan a strategy to overcome the hurdle in the Wolrd Cup event.
The key task for Bangladesh bowlers will be to prevent run flow both in the power play and in the death overs. Bowlers must master the art of picking up wickets on flat tracks. They need to determine what kind of bowling may pose problems for the hitters on batting-friendly surfaces. Bangladesh bowlers will play to their full capacity if they can adjust to the conditions.

Bottom Line
Bangladesh team's confidence is sky-high after three consecutive T20I series victories against Zimbabwe, Australia, and New Zealand respectively. Not everyone is pleased with the pitches Bangladesh played against those opponents. Many pundits believe that spin wickets only helped Bangladesh win two cricket series against two formidable opponents. As a result, Bangladesh's preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 was insufficient. Bangladesh have a chance to reach the championship's semifinals if they play to their best ability. However, they must address the three things mentioned in this article prior to the major event.
