A three-member ACC team, led by director Sheikh Mohammad Fanafilla, is investigating allegation brought against them.
Basir was suspended on June 10 for allegedly leaking information, a breach of job discipline.
According to a report ran by a private TV, Basir demanded Tk 40 lakh in bribe ahead of a search against DIG Mizanur.
He took Tk 25 lakh from Mizanur and sought the rest within the next week. He demanded a car to bring his son to school and disclosed important information regarding ACC.
A three-member inquiry committee was formed after the report was broadcast. After reviewing the committee’s findings, ACC suspended Basir on charges of illegally transmitting the ACC data and violating job discipline.
On May 3 last year, the ACC interrogated the DIG in connection with accumulation of illegal wealth. The commission also reportedly found his involvement in money laundering.
