Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen described Jaishankar’s forthcoming visit to Bangladesh as a “courtesy trip”.
While talking to a small group of reporters at his office on Monday, the Foreign Minister said the Indian External Affairs Minister has already accepted his invitation to visit Bangladesh.
Dr Momen said he will perform hajj this year and is likely to remain out of the country from August 5 to 17.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali has recently met Jaishankar at his office in New Delhi and discussed various issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Syed Muazzem conveyed Bangladesh Foreign Minister's invitation to his Indian counterpart to visit Bangladesh.
Responding to a question, Dr Momen said they are working to expedite the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by bringing changes at different levels.
He also talked about top-level changes in a number of Bangladesh missions abroad, including in Tokyo, Beijing and Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations.
Dr Momen said they are also promoting junior officials to boost the working spirit of the young generation.
