The DMP Commissioner came up with the remark while addressing a programme of signing a Group Life Insurance Agreement between Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) and Sunlife Insurance Company Limited at the National Press Club in the afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, the DMP Commissioner said, “I am very pleased to witness this historic moment. Thanks to the Sun Life Insurance Company for standing by the side of the journalists. I also thank the CRAB for taking up with this wonderful group insurance initiative.”
Group Life insurance is a very timely initiative for journalists, because their survivors never get sufficient assistance if any of them die while on duty.
Relationship with journalists are always important for us, he added.
“The initiative of signing life insurance is very important, however it should have been initiated earlier. Those who love the country, those who work for change in the society can do journalism,” the DMP Commissioner also said.
Praising activities of journalists, the Commissioner said, “journalists help a lot in our activities. Because of their cooperation, all are seen wearing helmets while riding on bikes and no vehicle runs on the wrong side of the road.”
Shahadat Hossain Sohag, Assistant Managing Director (AMD) of Sun Life Insurance, and CRAB president Abul Khayer signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
General Secretary of National Press Club Farida Yasmin also spoke at the programme.
