“From April 1, food items will be delivered to homes of those who live from hands to mouth,” he said while speaking at a mosque in the district town during Jum’a prayers to raise awareness about coronavrius.
A total of 50 people from each ward will be brought under the facility at the initial level, he said, adding that the municipality itself will bear the cost.
Meanwhile, all members of a family were sent to home-quarantine at Baravilla village in Nalitabari upazila.
Locals said one Kalu Bhandari recently returned home from India and came to his father-in-law’s residence at the village.
As the news spread around, neighbours insisted Kalu that he went into quarantine as per the government’s instructions. At one stage, he along with his wife fled the village.
Md Arifur Rahman, upazila nirbahi officer, said on information, they went there and asked all members of the family to maintain a 15-day quarantine.
