An examinee of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) who reportedly set herself on fire, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Nasrin Aktar Chadni, 16, daughter of expatriate Anowar Hossain.

Officer-in-Charge of Haziganj Police Station Alamgir Hossain said the girl tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire on Thursday while she was alone at her house at Kazirgaon village of Haziganj upazila.

Hearing her scream, locals rushed her to Upazila Health Complex and later she was shifted to DMCH as 80 percent of her body sustained burns.

The girl died on Friday afternoon at DMCH, OC said.

The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
