The equipment, the rings and parallel bars, came from Japan Gymnastics Association upon request from Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation.
Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh have been supporting both the organisations by helping them communicate each other as well as arranging the transportation of the equipment under the scheme.
A handover ceremony of the gymnastics equipment was held at the training facility of Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation at Bangladesh Sport Council on Wednesday.
Charge d’ Affaires of the Japanese Embassy in Dhaka Hiroyuki Yamaya, President of Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation Sheikh Bashir Ahmed and Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shahed Reza were present at the ceremony, said the Embassy.
CDA Yamaya said the two nations will enjoy more interaction in various different fields, including sport and culture ahead of 2020 Olympic/Paralympic Games and 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-Japan relations in 2022.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed touched upon the long-lasting friendship between Japan and Bangladesh, especially in the field of gymnastics.
Shahed Reza expressed gratitude to Japan and Japan Gymnastics Association.
Toward the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Japan aims to promote to the people all around the world, of all generations, including the youth who represent the future, the value of sport and the Olympic and Paralympic movement, said the Embassy.
