Two women were killed in a hit by a speeding bus of Binimoy Paribahan on the Airport Road in Dhaka on Saturday, said police.
Minara Begum, 55, and Moni Begum, 37, were residents of Dhaka’s Dakshin and Dakshingaon areas respectively.

Md Aslam Uddin , inspector (investigation) of Airport Police Station, said the speeding bus of Binimoy Paribahan knocked down the duo while they were crossing the road in front of a restaurant around 11am, leaving Minara dead on the spot and Moni critically injured.

Moni was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where she succumbed to her injuries upon arrival, Mollah said quoting the hospital police outpost’s Assistant Sub Inspector Md Masud Miah.

The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he said, adding that the bus and its driver were detained in this connection.
