“The 7th Five-Year Plan is going to end this year while the 8th FYP will be formulated soon. We got many suggestions that’ll help us formulate the plan well,” he said while addressing the closing session and media briefing of the Bangladesh Development Forum 2020 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) here.
The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the two-day programme on Wednesday while keynote session was ‘Effective partnership for implementing the 8th Five-Year Plan aiming towards achieving SDGs’ organised by Economic Relations Division (ERD).
The finance minister called for effective partnership between the government and development partners for implementing the plan.
He said the government is setting up 100 economics zones to unleash further development.
“We need huge investment in the economics zones. Private investment is much needed here. Bangladesh is a perfect place for investment. No one will lose if one invests in Bangladesh,” he said.
Mustafa Kamal said the government took some initiatives to create knowledge-based economy here prioritising Fourth Industrial Revelation (4th RI).
He said Bangladesh had successfully achieved the MDGs and the country will also succeed in attaining SDGs as well.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Economic Affairs Adviser to Prime Minister Dr Mashiur Rahman, ERD Secretary Monowar Ahmed and United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator and LCG Co Chair Mia Seppo also spoke at the closing event.
