“I want to assure the people that there is no reason to panic…the threat of dengue is completely under control and chikungunia is completely unheard of this year. Authority is completely ready to combat these,” he said.
DSCC Mayor was addressing the reporters while inaugurating the 15-day long anti-mosquito ‘Crush Programme’ arranged by DSCC to prevent dengue and chikungunia in city’s Baily Road area.
DSCC mayor mentioned that under the crush program mosquito repellent squads will be active in region-based campaigns for killing mosquitos.
"346 workers equipped with 274 fogger machine will start the campaign of killing mosquitos across 7 wards in region-1," he said.
Sayeed Khokon further said not only city Corporation's campaign but public awareness is also necessary.
He urged people to avoid storing still water in order to stop the spread of Aedes mosquito, the carrier of Dengue virus.
"We will be arranging programs to raise public awareness in different locations across DSCC," he said.
He also said the procedure to select community ambassador for DSCC has already started.
DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon announced that from July 15 a special health care campaign will be operational across DSCC.
"About 4-11 mobile health care units will be active in each ward to provide free medical help to the public," the mayor said.
Additionally a special hotline will be opened the same day for providing first aid service to physically invalid patients for free.
DSCC mayor urged everyone to come forward in order to build a clean city.
