“Those who are involved in the irregularities won’t be spared. Playing ducks and drakes with the lives of people will no longer be tolerated. They must be brought to justice,” he said.
The ACC chief was speaking at an ACC media award distribution ceremony held at Jatiya Natyashala Auditorium of Shilpakala Academy.
Describing these irregularities as corruption, the ACC chief said a 22-storey building has been built taking approval for an 18-storey one.
About grabbing government lands, he said they must give those back or face punishment.
“Either return the government lands or face dire consequences,” he said adding, “People have built rest-houses after occupying the lands of Housing and Public Works, Roads and Highways department, Bangladesh Railways and Forest department. They must return those.”
Iqbal Mahmood urged the media people and civil society members to come forward to create mass awareness against corruption.
He also called on the teachers to free the education system from coaching business and notebook trade. “You have an effective role to play in building a nation full of moral values. Development without moral values won’t be sustainable,” he added.
