He made the directive when Mahbub Uz Zaman met him at Bangabhaban.
President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
The President said China is one of the development partners of Bangladesh. “Our partnership in different sectors, including commerce and investment, is excellent.”
He also directed the new envoy to work for further expanding the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China.
The newly appointed ambassador sought President’s cooperation to carry out his duties.
The government appointed Mahbub Uz Zaman as the new Bangladesh Ambassador to China on August 21.
Zaman was serving as Secretary (Asia and Pacific) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before the new appointment.
Zaman, a career foreign service officer, belongs to the 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre.
