Dr Nilufar Yasmin of Genesis Private Hospital who operated the Cesarean delivery said the operation was held in the afternoon and the 28-years-old COVID-19 patient Jannati Aktar gave birth to her second child.
They had to take special preparation to operate as there were risks, she said, adding that “But there was no alternative but to operate as it’s our duty.”
“The mother and child both are in sound condition now,” she added.
Jannati, wife of Alamgir Hossain of Banurhuda village in Chaugachha upazila was found infected and kept in home isolation since April 25.
Later, she recovered from the virus on May 9, but after taking her to Jashore General Hospital for delivery, her COVID-19 symptoms reappeared and her samples were collected again for test, said Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Lutfunnahar.
The test reports confirmed her re-infected of the virus on Monday although her husband and eight years old elder daughter were found negative for the virus, she said.
Executive Doctor of Jashore General Hospital Dr Dilip Kumar Roy said the team of physicians who operated the patient has been sent for home quarantine for 14 days.
Meanwhile, a total of 17,822 were found infected and 269 died of COVID-19 until Wednesday in country, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
