Authorities reported six new deaths from Covid-19 in Kushita in last 24 hours on Sunday as the country grapples with a surge in the infections.
Dr. MA Momen, supervisor of Kushtia 250-bed General Hospital, said the six died in the past 24 hours at the corona unit of the hospital on Sunday.
Currently, 140 patients with Covid-19 and symptoms of the virus are undergoing treatment at the hospital and the number of patients is increasing day by day, he said.
Besides, the Covid-19 infection positivity rate has reached 34.63 as some 195 reported positive from 577 tested samples in the past 24 hours.

Among from the 1,720 active cases, 164 people are taking treatment at isolation unit while the rest are taking treatment at home.
So far, 7,185 people have been found infected with the virus and of them, 5,280 people recovered.
Dr. Momen feared that if the virus continues to rise, it would be very tough for them to control it with limited staffs and doctors.
However, most of the people, who got admitted here with virus symptoms and Covid positive, need regular oxygen support.

The health authorities are involved in refilling the oxygen cylinders twice in a day from Jashore, said Momen.
Medical health services for outdoor patients at the hospital have been suspended for some days as the authorities declared the hospital as Corona dedicated following the excessive pressure of Covid-19 related patients.

Due to the worsening situation of Covid cases, the local administration has imposed a lockdown from June 20 to June 27.
