A member of the staff at the upazila health complex in Jhenaigati was diagnosed with the coronavirus on Monday, the only positive case from more than two dozen officials and staffers at the government’s healthcare outpost whose samples were collected for testing.
Civil Surgeon Dr AKM Anwarur Rauf confirmed the result of the test.
Sources at the civil surgeon’s office said the man, a storekeeper of the hospital that is part of the complex, belongs to Dattapara village in Malijhikanda union of the upazila.
The authorities concerned of the hospital sent samples of 40 people including 27 staffers and officials of the Jhenaigati Upazila Health Complex on Sunday and of them, the storekeeper tested positive.
He was taken to the isolation unit set up at the health complex.
The local administration meanwhile, has imposed a lockdown on the Jhenaigati upazila health complex and 15 houses in Dattapara village.
