The deceased was identified as Asadul Haque Asad, 34.
Sources of Rab-2 said tipped off, when a team of Rab conducted a drive in the area a group of drug traders fired gunshots towards the members of the law enforcement agency, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
At one stage, the drug traders fled leaving behind the bullet-hit body of Asadul.
Later, they took Asadul to local hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Assistant Sub-Inspector of Rab-2 Saiful Malik.
They also recovered a foreign firearms, some bullets, a short-gun, 1000 pieces of Yaba pills and 4 kg of hemp from the spot, he said.
Asadul was wanted in several cases filed against him with different Police Stations in the capital and had been involved in drug trading for long time, he added.
The body was sent to Savar Hospital for autopsy.
