The Rangpur district and sessions judge, also senior special court judge, Begum Rasheda Sultana passed the order after hearing the defence plea.
Ferdous Rahman, deputy assistant director of Anti Corruption Commission’s Rangpur integrated office filed a case with Kotwali police station on September 12 against six people including former principal of the Rangpur Medical College Professor Nur Islam for embezzling funds meant for purchasing machinery for the medical college, said Harun – ur – Rashid, a lawyer of Anti Corruption Commission.
The other accused were Zaher Uddin Sarkar, owner of a contractor firm Bengal Scientific Company, his father Abdus Sattar, son Ahasan Habib and his brother – in – law Asadur Rahman and Rangpur Medical College Community medicine assistant professor Dr. Md. Sarowat Hossain.
According to the case statement the accused persons misappropriated Taka 4 crore meant for purchasing machinery for Rangpur Medical College from March 21 to June 30 in the last year.
