Islamic University, Nov 24 (UNB) - The authorities of Islamic University (IU) on Saturday decided to launch a Botanical Research Center in the campus in Kushtia with a view to maintain biodiversity and ecological balance.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the university authorities with IU Vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair, sources at IU registrar office said.
The university authorities had already selected a piece of 10-acre lands to build the centre besides IU Lake, said IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif adding that the activities of the research centre will be conducted under the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
Among others, IU Pro Vice-chancellor Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Professor M Selim Toha, acting registrar SM Abdul Latif and proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman were present.
IU Vice-chancellor said they would launch the research centre for transforming the campus into a green one.
