Thakurgaon, Feb 27 (UNB) – A five-member medical team of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research on Wednesday visited a house at Bhandardah in Baliadanga upazila over death of five members of a family mysteriously in the space of 15 days.
The team members are- Doctor Gazi Shah Alam, Doctor Tanzina Nowrin, Doctor Debashish Kumar Shah, Doctor Shahnaz Parvin and Doctor Ismail Khan.
The ream reached at the house at 1:30pm and talked to surviving family members, locals, local representatives and collected samples from the house, said Doctor Shah Newaz, civil surgeon (acting) of Thakurgaon.
Besides, another medical team from Rajshahi has also come to Thakurgaon.
The both team will stay three days here, said the civil surgeon.
The collected samples will be sent to Dhaka. Then the reason behind their death would be known, he said.
He also urged local people not to be panicked. People can move freely.
Five members of the family-- Taher Ali, 55, son of Fazar Ali, Taher’s wife Hosne Ara, 45, his son-in-law Habibur Rahman, 35 and two sons Yousuf Ali, 30, and younger son Mehedi Hasan, 24, died mysteriously from February 9 to February 24 at the village, creating panic among the people.
Masudur Rahman Masud, upazila nirbahi officer of Baliadangi said that the administration had imposed a ban on one-km area around the house. However, the ban has been withdrawn and educational institutions will be reopened also.
