Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Tuesday recalled and appreciated that the International Committee of the Red Cross provided humanitarian assistance and support to Bangladeshi nationals during the Great War of Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971.
He also applauded ICRC’s role during Covid-19 pandemic in Bangladesh.
Foreign Minister Momen emphasized on further cooperation from the ICRC in ensuring safe, sustainable and dignified return of Rohingyas to their country of origin Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He made the remarks when the newly appointed Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Bangladesh Agnès Dhur presented her credentials to him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Foreign Minister warmly welcomed the ICRC Head of Delegation.

He assured her of Bangladesh government’s full support in delivering her duties during her tenure in Bangladesh.
Citing Bangladesh’s peace-centric foreign policy, the Foreign Minister, recalling that the ICRC is a credible international organization, underscored the need for collective efforts in working for peace and stability around the globe.
The Head of ICRC Delegation thanked the Foreign Minister for accepting her credentials.

She briefed the Foreign Minister on their activities in Bangladesh, including those related to prison condition improvement, sanitation and drinking water.
She expressed her willingness to further strengthen cooperation between Bangladesh and the ICRC in the coming years.
Agnès Dhur, a French national, has a long distinguished career at the ICRC.
Before joining her new role, she was the Head of ICRC Delegation in Libya.
