Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen has stressed the importance of countries sharing experiences and expertise for mutually beneficial relations, in a meeting with the newly-appointed ambassador of the Philippines to Bangladesh.
Ambassador Leo Tito L. Ausan, Jr. met the Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, where they discussed various aspects of the ongoing cooperation and potential areas for further expanding the breadth and depth of engagement between the two countries.
The foreign secretary congratulated the envoy and assured him of all possible support and cooperation for discharging his duties in Bangladesh.

Praising the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, the foreign secretary observed that the last five decades provided a solid foundation for a strong Bangladesh-Philippines bilateral friendship.
He recalled the historic visit of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to Manila during his return from Tokyo to express the gratitude of the people of Bangladesh for their wholehearted support for an independent Bangladesh.
The issues of Bangladesh’s candidacy for ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner and Rohingya repatriation also came under discussion during the meeting, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The new Filipino envoy expressed his keenness to work with full enthusiasm and vigour to further strengthen the friendly and constructive relations between the two countries in the coming days.
