"The Prime Minister has initiated the drive to take disciplinary actions against the perpetrators. So, no-one will go unpunished after committing illegal activities," he said while addressing an event at Dhaka University in the evening.
Awami League's Relief and Social Welfare Subcommittee organised the function at the Nawab NababAli Chowdhury Senate Bhaban to mark Sheikh Hasina's 73th birthday that falls on September 28.
A total of 73 students of DU Bangla department were awarded scholarships and books at the function.
Among others, National Professor Anisuzzaman and DU Vice-chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman were present on the occasion.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said they did not establish corruption as a culture in the country which BNP did. “They had established ‘Hawa Bhaban’ for committing unbridled corruption.”
He also said Sheikh Hasina is working for economic emancipation of the country. ”Normally, a political leader thinks about the next general election, but Sheikh Hasina thinks of the betterment and development of the next generation. She possesses an outstanding leadership which is not found in other leaders after 1975.”
The ruling party leader asked Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists to develop the organisation in the line of what Bangabandhu had dreamt of. “You shouldn’t grab headlines for wrong reasons as the Prime Minister has given you the responsibility to work for students’ welfare.”
