A Chattogram court on Sunday has rejected the bail plea of former Police Inspector (suspended) of Kasba Police Station Mizanur Rahman in a case filed over an attempt to rape a college student in a hotel room.
At the same time, the court also fixed the date for delivering the judgment on May 10.
Chattogram Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 Justice Ferdous Ara denied the bail petition and announced the date of the verdict in the case after hearing.
According to the case prosecution, on July 12, 2011, an 11th grade student of Ispahani School and College of Chattogram and one of her friends went for a visit to city’s Foy's Lake area when Mizanur Rahman, the then OC (investigation) of Kasba Police Station, took them to a hotel in Chawkbazar in the name of questioning.
There, the OC locked the girl and boy in separate rooms and tried to forcibly rape the girl, but the girl broke the bathroom glass and tried to commit suicide. Later, hotel staff rescued the girl.
On July 16 of that year, the girl's father Humayun Kabir filed a case with Panchlaish Model Police Station against OC Mizan and three others.
