Dhaka, Apr 30 (UNB) - Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Tuesday said that the government is satisfied with the overall market conditions of daily products and the prices of essential goods are stable.
Attending a press conference marking the National Consumer Day-2019 at the secretariat the minister came up with the remarks.
He said the prices of goods are comparatively cheap this year than 2017 and 2018. Only a few places have witnessed rise in prices. “We are conducting drives where prices have risen marking the upcoming Ramadan,” he said.
“This year people will not face pressure of price hike but the rice price has gone downward which is causing problem for farmers. They (farmers) are losing money of one mound of paddy after buying one kilograms of meat,” he said.
Four teams from the ministry and National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate would operate drives every day during Ramandan to monitor the market, he added.
