Sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station Al-Amin, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge-sheet before the Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Arifa Yesmin Mukta against Rathish’s wife Snigdha Sarkar Dipa and her ‘lover’ Quamrul Islam on September 13, Rangpur police super Mizanur Rahman said while briefing reporters at his office on Monday noon.
Rathish was found dead at Tajhat Mollahpara of the city on April 4 last, five days after he went missing.
Based on the information gleaned from his wife Snigdha, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered his body from under the ground at an under-construction building site.
Police claimed that Snigdha, an assistant teacher of Tajhat High School, had an extramarital affair with his colleague Quamrul.
On the night of March 29, Snigdha made Rathish unconscious feeding him milk and rice laced with 10 sleeping pills and later both Snigdha and Quamrul strangulated Rathish to death.
The following day, they kept the body inside an almirah and later took it to the under-construction building site by a van where they buried it.
Rathish represented the state in the Japanese citizen Kunio Hoshi and Khadem Rahmat Ali killing cases.
