Mahmud was speaking to the media after visiting Krishna Roy, an assistant manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation, at the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Pongu Hospital).
Krishna, 52, lost a leg when a bus mounted on a footpath and ran her over at Banglamotor. Mahmud said the accident on footpath is a matter of concern.
The State Minister said a special committee, formed to restore discipline in the transport sector, filed the recommendations on Aug 22 to Transport Minister Obaidul Quader.
The 15-member body, headed by former minister Shajahan Khan, made 111 recommendations – 50 urgent, 32 short-term and 29 long-term.
“If order is restored by implementing these recommendations, then untoward incidents won’t occur on the roads,” he said.
