Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested the suspected killer of a security guard in Agargaon from the city’s Shahbagh area on Monday afternoon.
The arrestee was identified as Sagar Hossain, 16, son of Hannan Hossain, a resident of West Agargaon.
A 55-year-old security guard named Azim, hailing from Tangail, was stabbed to death in Agargaon area early Monday. He was employed as a guard at 59 West Agargaon Mia Tower.

Acting on a tip off, a team of Rab-3 battalion conducted a drive in Shahbagh area and arrested Sagar at around 3:45 pm on Monday, said media officer of Rab-3 battalion headquarter, senior ASP Farzana Haque.
During preliminary interrogation, Sagar revealed that he had previous enmity with Azim over various issues. Sagar stabbed Azim early Monday and fled the scene, she said.
Imam Hossain, owner of a flat in Mia Tower, had said a young man named Sagor, a tenant at the building, was the perpetrator.

Around 3 am, Sagor locked into an altercation with security guard Azim over opening the gate late at night, Imam Hossain said.
At one stage, Sagor stabbed Azim with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Azim was first admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital. From there, he was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 4 am.
Sagor also suffered minor injuries during the scuffle and went to the hospital for treatment.

On information, police arrested Sagor from the hospital.
The dead body has been kept in the hospital mortuary for autopsy, said Inspector Bachhu Mia, in charge of the DMCH police outpost. Sher-e- Bangla Nagar police station has been informed on the incident, he added.
