The DSCC conducted a drive at the under-construction building o and found Larvae, carrier of Dengue virus.
DSCC’s Executive Magistrate Udayan Dewan sentenced the supervisor Md Sayeed, 25, under section 269.
Earlier in the day, DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon attended a dengue prevention programme organised by Dhaka Metropolitan Women’s College.
Addressing the programme, the DSCC Mayor said there is no alternative to combined awareness for prevention of dengue as the disease has been spreading widely. Day by day, the situation has been turning more and more complicated, he added.
He hoped that the situation will turn normal quickly following united initiatives of both the government and private sector.
The DSCC Mayor handed over a carton of mosquito-repellent aerosol spray to the college principal, Brig Gen Monirul Islam Akhondo, as part of an initiative by the DSCC to distribute aerosol spray to students free of cost.
Despite repeated requests to the building owners to keep their premises clean and free of stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding, they (building owners) did not give importance on the issue, he said.
“We have been conducting mobile court drives regularly. The city authority will not stand back if under-construction building owners are not becoming conscious,” the mayor added.
