Chattogram, Jan 24 (UNB) – A crew went missing as two goods-laden vessels drowned in the Bay of Bengal at Bhashan Char in Noakhali district on Thursday noon.
Deputy Director Mohammad Selim of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation ( BIWTC ) said ‘’Khaza Baba Faridpuri’’ with 1,700 metric tons wheat was going to Narayanganj when it reached the area and faced a powerful tide.
Although twelve crew members managed to swim safely to the shore, one went missing.
On the other hand, wheat-laden ‘’N Islam’’ drowned near the Bhashan Char area as another vessel collided with it, deputy director Selim said.
