Dhaka, Apr 1 (UNB) – The High Court on Monday ordered concerned authorities to explain why the practice of government officials greeting ministers through media advertisements should not be declared illegal.
Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil’s bench issued the rule after hearing a writ petition filed in the form of public interest litigation.
The concerned authorities, including the cabinet and public administration secretaries, have been asked to respond within the next two weeks.
Advocate Manzill Murshid stood for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Mokhlesur Rahman represented the state.
Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh filed the writ petition on Sunday.
