Bangladesh women will play the remaining two T20 matches against South African women on August 1 and 4 at the same venue.
Sent in to bat first in the first T20, South African women’s team scored a moderate total of 130 runs for 4 in stipulated 20 overs, featuring 127 runs in the opening stand by T Chetty and T Britts.
T Chetty quick-fired 72 runs off 59 deliveries with the help of nine boundaries while her partner T Britts contributed 52 runs off 55 balls, hitting three fours and one six.
Ritu Moni grabbed two South African wickets conceding 30 runs while Khadija Tul Kurba took one for 21 runs.
In reply, Bangladesh women’s team scored 125 runs for 9 wickets in quota 20 overs to suffer five runs defeat.
Two down Fahima Khatun (34), opener Sanjida Khatun (21), lower order Ritu Moni (19) and one down batter-cum-captain Nigar Sultana (12) were the main contributors for Bangladesh.
TS Sekhukhure claimed three wickets for 21 runs while N Mlaba took one for 16 runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team clinched the three-match unofficial ODI series 2-1 beating South Africa by 9 wickets in the series-deciding 3rd and last match at the Groenkloof Oval in Pretoria on July 28.
Bangladesh made a frustrating start in the one-day series after conceding a 47-run defeat against hosts South Africa in the first match on July 23 and bounced back in the series beating the home side by 4 wickets in the 2nd match on July 25.
