Dhaka, July 1 (UNB) – Coming from behind, defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited managed a 2-1 goal victory over hosts and bottom-ranked Team BJMC in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football at Shaheed Bulu Stadium in Noakhali on Monday.
With the day’s outcome, the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit remained at the 2nd slot in the 13-team league securing 42 points from 17 matches, four points behind league leader Bashundhara Kings, which bagged 46 points from 16 outings, playing one match less than that of Abahani.
Nigerian booter Samson Iliasu put Team BJMC ahead in the 26th minute (1-0) while
Jewel restored the parity for Abahani in the 40th minute to lock the match (1-1) in the first half.
Afghan defender Masih Saighani, who scored match-winner against Indian Minerva Punjab in the stoppage time (93rd minute) in the last Group E match of the AFC Cup in Guwahati last week, again rescued Abahani scoring the match-winning goal in the 60th minute of the match.
